Holiday Gift Guide for Creatives: 30+ Ideas for the Artist in Your Life

The holiday season is fast approaching, friends, and if you’re like me, you’re already trying to think of the perfect gift for everyone on your list. While I can’t help you with the ideal present for your great-aunt Doris, I can give you lots of ideas for anyone in your life who happens to love art and crafts! I’ve pulled together a list of some of my favorite things, and I’m pretty confident that you’ll find at least one gift idea that would be perfect for an artist you know. Even if that artist happens to be yourself…;)

The gift guide below is divided into categories by price range, starting with ideas under $10 and ending with gifts over $100. I’ve also included a special section just for crafty kids. In each category, you’ll find a photo collage showing the items along with their prices, rounded to the nearest dollar. These are the prices I found as of November 15, 2018; depending on when you shop, they may fluctuate or you might find even better deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Below each collage is a list of clickable links that will take you right to where you can purchase each product. Some of the links are affiliate, meaning that if you click the link and then make a purchase, I receive a {very} small commission that helps support Amy Latta Creations and feed my kids. Thanks for that, they eat a lot.

Created to Create Mug

If you’ve listened to my “Creativity: Yes You Can!” podcast episode, you know I’m passionate about this quote and the fact that we were made to be makers. Here’s a great reminder in the form of a coffee mug; two of my faves put together.

A4 LED Light Box Tracer

I actually went searching for a light box because my son has been asking for one. I expected a very different price point, but this one is super-affordable, portable, and seems like a really useful tool for artists of all ages.

These are some of my favorite chalk markers, and this 10-pack is a great deal.

Paint Water/Not Paint Water Mug Set

Because the struggle is real.

Bucilla 10″ Weaving Loom

This little loom is the perfect size for small projects like wall hangings. It’s a fun introduction to weaving, and you can read about my experience with it here.

Created to Create Tote Bag

As I mentioned, this quote speaks to me. If coffee isn’t your friend’s jam, here it is on a tote bag. After all, one can never have too many bags, right?

Interleaved Journaling Bible {ESV} by Crossway

I’m constantly asked what Bible I use when I do my journaling on Instagram Stories. This is one of my two favorites, and the reason I love it is that next to every single page of text, there’s a full blank page for art.

ImpressArt Economy Stamping Starter Kit

If someone you know is interested in getting started with metal stamping, this kit is the absolute perfect present! It contains all the tools you need for the best value you’ll find: a hammer, a small steel block, a basic alphabet stamp set, Stamp Straight tape, enamel, and guide stickers for just $50.

thirty-one Get Creative Caddy

Do you know someone who’d like a way to take some of their favorite craft supplies on the go? This Creative Caddy has a variety of pockets inside to hold everything from crochet hooks to markers to paint, and it’s collapsible for easy storage.

$51-100

Apple Pencil

When it comes to digital lettering, the Apple Pencil is an absolute must-have. It’s uniquely responsive to pressure, allowing an artist to create the distinction between thick and thin strokes. It’s compatible with all sizes of the iPad Pro, as well as the iPad 6th generation. I recommend using it in conjunction with the app Procreate {$9.99}.

thirty-one Get Creative Carry-All

For the crafter-on-the-go, this Carry-All bag is a gift they’re sure to love. The structured satchel top stays open for easy access to projects, while eight pockets organize crochet hooks, knitting needles, markers, brushes and more.

Dayspring Illustrating Bible

This is the other of my favorite Journaling Bibles, mostly because of one unique feature: the spiral binding! The unique construction lets the pages lay flat while you work, which any artist will tell you is a huge advantage. The pages are also a little thicker than those in most Bibles, making it ideal for journaling.

ImpressArt Metal Stamping Starter Kit

This kit is a step up from the Economy version in the lower price bracket. The main differences are that it contains a larger/better stamp set and a large steel block rather than the small one. A fantastic gift idea for anyone who wants to get started with metal stamping.
