Sweet Serendipity Dress

How many of you love wearing dresses?  I have a few friends who absolutely hate dressing up, but as for me, I love looking and feeling girly just about all the time.  In the spring and summer especially, I’d rather wear a skirt or a dress than anything else, even if we’re just running errands around town or heading to the library for story time.

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to introduce you to one of my favorite new sponsors and a great source for stylish dresses, tops, skirts, and accessories, Tailor & Stylist, by showing you how I styled their High-Low Maxi Dress five totally different ways.  I was incredibly excited when they offered to send me a second dress to review and share with you how I styled it.

The dress I chose is called the Sweet Serendipity, and it does live up to its name!

I absolutely loved the look of this dress online, and when I saw it in person and got to notice the lace detailing up close, I loved it even more.

My favorite things about it, besides that it fits perfectly and is super comfortable, are the feminine touches like the Peter Pan collar, the bow tie sash, and the keyhole button closure in the back.  And I absolutely love the retro-chic 50’s feel of it!

At just $42, I feel like it’s a steal.  In fact, almost everything available at Tailor & Stylist is $50 or less {sometimes much less, like the dresses on sale now for $19.99!}.

Every time I put this dress on, no matter how I plan on styling it that day, I feel compelled to reach for my red lipstick.  That combo of black and ivory plus the polka dots and the flirty feel of it all, well, it just screams for red lips, don’t you think?  And on a chilly day, a red cardigan too!

I think sometimes in fashion, less is more; when you have a great piece that speaks for itself, too many accessories can take away from it.  So, I opted to go with a simple pair of pearl earrings, a sexy pair of heels, and a delicate bracelet with several red beads to give just a bit of color.  Plus, of course, the cardigan.

{Don’t worry, Mom, we made sure no traffic was coming.}  If it’s a sunny summer day, you can’t go wrong with an oversized pair of shades either…they just add to the vintage feel of it all!

By the way, hubby and I had a blast doing this photo shoot…we headed to a historic downtown area about 20 minutes from our house that has some really neat architecture and old buildings.  I realized how much I take it for granted since I see it all the time!  We ended up with way more photos than I could use in one post, but if you’re interested in seeing the rest, you can check out my Sweet Serendipity Google+ Album.

Anyway, I’m all about any outfit that can be either casual or dressy, that’s a good value for the money, and that’s comfortable enough I actually want to wear it.  Plus, it doesn’t hurt to have the approval of my two main men…who both heartily agree that it’s a pretty dress!
