Happy Monday, friends! Today, we have something to celebrate! This little blog that I started in the hopes of being a place to create, share, love, and inspire, now has over 5,000 fans on Facebook. Wow. Back in the days when my only followers were my mom and Erin, I never dreamed I’d be sitting here today celebrating this milestone with all of you. I have some more to say about this community and all of you, but first, it’s not a party without a present, right?
I’m sure many of you are familiar with Lisa Leonard Designs. And if you’re not, you should be. Lisa’s online shop is filled to the brim with exquisite jewelry, much of which is hand stamped and can be personalized to mean something special to you. Her jewelry tells a story, your story. Take a look at a few of my favorite pieces.
This is one of the newest designs in the shop, called “Beauty in the Brokenness.” Here’s what Lisa has to say about this piece, “This necklace so reflects my heart. Broken, but stitched up and stronger than before. It’s a constant reminder that even though you may feel broken, there are rays of light and beauty to be found—life is imperfect but if we look closely there is beauty!” Can you relate?
I love this one too, called “My Journey.” It has a special significance for me too, as Journey is the name of our church community. It’s a great reminder that we’re all works in progress and that each piece and season of our lives isn’t forever, it’s just a part of our journey.
When it came to deciding which of Lisa’s gorgeous pieces I really wanted most for myself, I was absolutely torn between these two; the “Itty Bitty Hearts” and “You’re the Cream in my Coffee”. If you know me, you know why this was a hard decision!!
I mean, come on, we all know I looooove me some Starbucks! Anytime, anywhere. As my friend Christina {lovingly, I think} jokes, I know the locations of all the Starbucks in a 50 mile radius. But when it came down to it, there’s something I love more…these guys.
And so, I went with the Itty Bitty hearts. Here is my personalized necklace the day it arrived in the mail:
Gor. geous. I love everything about it. I love the way it keeps the two of them close to my heart on the outside too. I love that it’s tiny. I love that I can wear it with something casual, something formal, or something in between.
I love it because it tells my story. Although, I confess, the coffee necklace just may make an appearance on my birthday wish list too. Today, to help me celebrate this 5000 friends milestone, Lisa is offering a $50 Gift Card to one lucky reader so that you can choose a piece that tells YOUR story.
Rafflecopter will walk you through the entry process at the end of the post.
Before you go, I have a few things I want to say about this milestone. Somewhere along the line, it may have seemed like this is all about numbers. And I’ll admit, it’s a big and wonderful number to see when I log onto my Facebook page. But the real joy for me?
It’s not the number. Promise.
Want to know what it is? It’s the community.
More specifically?
It’s Sandy Berl making and mailing a prayer shawl and a baby blanket for my friend Lisa who lost her husband 10 days after their first baby was born because my status update moved her heart.
It’s Rachel Furlong sending me a link to a page all about how to add glitter to your life because she saw it and thought of me.
It’s Erin McLear and Teresa Wilbourn sending in photos of the handprint shirts they made with their kiddos after seeing the one Little Crafter made.
It’s 190 of you giving me the “thumbs up” to rock my red lipstick to LC’s VBS closing and giving me the confidence that it looked good.
It’s 168 of you praying for my husband today as he has surgery on his wrist and 40 of you leaving him/me encouraging words.
It’s hearing from you all daily about whether you’re introverts or extroverts, what you think of the Bourne Identity, whether or not you’re addicted to Candy Crush, and what your biggest wishes are.
Community. A place to create, share, love, and inspire. Thank you for being a part of it.
