Hey, friends! You all know we’re busy getting Little Crafter ready for his first day of Kindergarten in a few weeks, right? I’m trying to get him as excited as possible about everything school-related, so we’re making everything an adventure, even getting his school supplies.
The other day when we were shopping at Walmart in the Back to School section, we were surprised to notice a huge display of Duck Tape®. Let me just say, Duck Tape® is a far cry from what it used to be these days! Right away, there was a bright chevron pattern that caught my eye. Little Crafter? Well, he found pickles.
See? Not even kidding. And not only are they silly pickles with faces, they say something funny…”Dill With It!” *snicker*
Now, you have to understand something about Little Crafter. He LOVES to be funny. So if something makes him giggle {or makes someone else giggle}, he wants it because he loves to make people laugh. Which means he wasn’t going to be satisfied until I bought him pickle Duck Tape®. I’m such a sucker.
So, what to do with pickle tape? I decided we’d use it to spice up a plain folder. We bought this simple laminated blue folder from the back to school section in Walmart and I got to work.
I started on the inside edge of the folder and secured the tape. Then I wrapped it around the folder horizontally and cut it off after I’d secured the other inside edge. I kept the folder closed while I wrapped because if you open it up, things get funky on the fold.
The trickiest part was matching up those silly pickles the best I could so they looked right.
Eventually, the entire folder was covered. What a difference, right? From plain to FUN {and funny too}! I think a certain little someone is pretty excited about it, don’t you?
Of course, I couldn’t let Little Crafter be the only one to have all the fun, right? Remember that fun chevron pattern I showed you? I picked up a clipboard for less than $2 and decorated it using some Duck Tape® of my own! I figure it’ll be nice to bring with me to Bloggy Con next month!
These projects were so quick and easy; both of them together took me less than half an hour to complete! And I love how fun they look…so different from the plain blue and plain brown chipboard they were when I bought them! Plus, they were really inexpensive too. To make your own personalized back to school {or bloggy conference} supplies, all you have to do is grab a folder, a notebook, a clipboard, a pencil box, or anything else that needs sprucing up! Then, buy Duck Tape at Walmart, and get to work transforming it!
I’m pretty sure we can all agree that Duck Tape® is one of the best things ever. I mean, you can use it to fix stuff, it’s waterproof, it’s strong and tough and pretty indestructable, and now it’s even fun-looking too! There are all kinds of creative possibilities…I mean, have you seen those contests where kids make their prom outfits from this stuff? Seriously! Ah-MA-zing. Small scale, big scale, or in between, you can use Duck Tape® for all sorts of crafty things. How will YOU use it? For more inspiration, follow @TheDuckBrand!

My Walmart did not have the fun pickle tape! I love it!

How fun is that? Did you see they have mini duck tape now too? Just as fun as the big stuff! We’ve used it many times, like for our DIY wedding and my sister’s Baby Shower (link below) to use for water bottle labels!
