Thanks to Shabby Apple, this week’s sponsor for Fashion Friday!
Oh, how I love Fridays! Who’s with me? Not only are they the start of the weekend, they’re also the day I get to team up with two of my very favorite people in the whole blogosphere, Kirsten and Kara, to share about one of my favorite things: fashion!
As the girls and I were chatting about what theme we wanted to tackle this week, we realized that all three of us have a common love for all things nautical. And while it’s really simple to create a nautical look in the summer, a lot of folks think they have to pack up their anchors and stripes as soon as the leaves start changing. But that’s not true at all! You can continue rocking your nautical fashions throughout the fall months with just a few minor chilly weather alterations. Today, we’re each going to show you a nautical-inspired outfit that’s totally appropriate for this season and give your our best tips for transitioning the trend to Fall…here’s mine!
Dress: Shabby Apple / Cardigan: Target / Anchor Pendant: Julie Vos / Stacking Bracelets: Kendra Phillip / Earrings: Sears / Heels: Target
One thing I love about this Racquet Club dress from Shabby Apple that makes it a great transitional piece for cooler weather is the high neckline. Plus, it’s not super-short. The below-the-knee hem is just right for the cooler months too! Pair all that with a matching cardigan, and this outfit is instantly seasonally appropriate. To take it a step further, I could always opt for dark tights and heeled boots in lieu of the heels if I got too cold! Fortunately, the day of this photo session was a beautiful one and it wasn’t necessary.
The stripes and color scheme of the Racquet Club dress itself already had me thinking of being at the ocean, but to take it just a bit further, I added the reversible anchor necklace Julie Vos gifted me at LuckyFABB. Honestly, I would probably never pay retail price for it {I can’t justify that for something without diamonds!} but I really do love it and have worn it multiple times since the conference.
Now, I have a confession to make. My absolute favorite part of this photo session was when Little Crafter decided he wanted to be in on it too. He thinks the idea of “photo-bombing”, or popping unexpectedly into someone else’s picture, is absolutely hysterical, and so just as hubby would go to snap the photo, he would run over to me giggling and grab onto my leg. It was just the cutest thing, and it led to some really precious pictures, like the one above where I feel like you can just see on my face how much joy he brings into my life. It also didn’t hurt that he coordinated {totally unintentionally!} with my outfit.
I mean, really. Is he not the cutest co-model ever? If you ever need tips on styling a fedora or wearing your rain boots every single day, this is your go-to guy.
ANYway, what I’m supposed to be telling you now is that our friends at Shabby Apple are joining in the fun of this week’s Fashion Friday by offering one of you the opportunity to win one of their dresses! Shabby Apple is a great source for vintage clothing and one of you lucky readers is going to receive your favorite dress or skirt from a pre-selected list of their collections. Rafflecopter will walk you through the giveaway process; good luck, friends!
