Hey, friends! Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend! As you know, I’m in NYC for the New Voices of Beauty video filming {eek}! Today, our agenda consists of brunch with Lucky and P&G Beauty representatives, then shopping in Soho at some places specially chosen by Lucky editors…does it get more fun than that?! I hope you’re following along with the trip on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram {I’m using the hashtag #honestlynyc} so you can see what’s happening since YOUR votes helped me get here!
In the meantime, I wanted to show you a super quick, super easy little thing I fixed up to bring along on the trip. How many of you have a Smash book?
If you’ve never heard of these, Smash books are journals designed for you to do just what the name suggests…smash all your stuff into them! The idea is that not only can you doodle, sketch, and write in them like a regular journal, you can also stick in mementos like ticket stubs, photos, cards, and pretty much anything you can, well, smash inside. They come in regular size and mini, and all different themes, and the best part is that they come with a pen that has a glue stick on the other end!! How great is that?!
When I went to NY for LuckyFABB, my traveling buddy Jess had one with her and she used it for all kinds of things…she saved our train ticket stubs, her metro card, her art museum tickets, restaurant menus, and all kinds of things she collected around the city. I was intrigued. Then, the other day, my friend and mentor Sarah suggested that I really ought to get one to take with me for this trip. I decided to go for it, and bought a mini one since it will fit nicely in my bag.
But the front was much too plain! That will never do! I ran to the Silhouette Online Store and searched “New York Skyline.” Two different options came up that were very similar, and I chose the less detailed one since I thought it would make a better sticker. I bought it, downloaded it, and had Cammie {my beloved Silhouette Cameo} cut it out of black vinyl. Then, all that was left to do was stick it to the front of the book! Voilá! A travel journal, personalized with the city skyline on it!
I’ll be sure to show you some of the things I’m busy “smash”ing! Oh, and don’t forget, Silhouette has a promo going on now, use ARTSY at checkout to save 20% on new products! And you can enter here to win your own Silhouette Portrait!
Hugs & Glitter from NY!
