Hey, friends! Today, I want to take a moment to say a public thank you. You all know that I work with a lot of companies and brands that I really like, and I get lots of opportunities to share with you about some of my favorite products and how you can use them in your everyday lives. But there’s one company I want to give a huge shout-out to today because they went above and beyond for me, and then they went above and beyond that. Their name is Modify Watches, and they are the kind of quality brand and quality people I am happy to partner with because, well, you’ll see. Here’s the story.
Back in October, I had the opportunity to create and receive a Modify Watch of my own choosing as part of my gift bag from Lucky FABB. I loved it. I wore it several times a week. Until last month, when it stopped keeping time. It was still running, but not the way it should, so I contacted customer service. My bands were fine, I was just hoping for a replacement face I could pop in, but that’s not what I got. Instead, Michelle {who responded right away} sent me a replacement face. Plus another face of my choosing. Plus an extra band. That, friends, is what I call customer service. I not only got the replacement piece they “owed” me, I got another entire watch!
I was totally impressed by their commitment to customer service. So much so that I went out on a limb and asked them for a giant favor. You see, awhile back, I ran a giveaway for a clothing company called Motel, who said they would give my winner a $75 credit. The only trouble was, they never contacted her to let her know how to redeem it. When the winner contacted me last week to let me know she’d never received her prize, I tried contacting Motel about it. I sent them multiple emails. I tweeted multiple times. Crickets. No one ever responded to any of it. I felt terrible…I didn’t want to promise a prize and not be able to give her something. So I asked Modify a favor. I asked them if they would step up and honor a giveaway they had never agreed to sponsor by providing my winner with a face and a band. And guess what. They did. In fact, they sent her a face and two bands of her choosing.
See what I mean? This is the kind of company I’m proud to partner with. The kind of company that actually cares about their customers and wants them to be happy with the product. So much so that they actually just launched a Kickstarter campaign in the hopes of being able to offer something extra special…fully customizable “Mod-to-Order” Watches. The idea is that any customer can upload any design…it could be a photo, a team logo, a piece of your child’s artwork, a graphic design, a brand logo…anything at all! Then, Modify will turn that into a watch face! How cool is that? Think about what great gifts that would make too!
Naturally, my first thought as soon as I found out about the campaign was, “I want an honestly watch!” So, I asked the guys at Modify if they could give me a little preview of what something like that would look like. Take a peek:
Honestly? When I saw this, I flipped out. In a big way. I mean, how cool is that…my original watercolor artwork that represents the very heart and soul of what this blog is all about, right there in the form of a watch. It’s unreal. I love this idea. I love personalized things {hence all the personal DIY jewelry I make}, and this just rocks my socks. But it can only happen if they are able to raise $50,000 by the end of March to purchase new equipment, get a bigger space, and hire more employees.
As with any Kickstarter project, there are cool incentives for supporting the cause…everything from donating $12 and getting a free strap {$15-20 value} to donating much more and getting all kinds of free watches and straps plus the opportunity to create your own design and even get a trip to San Francisco. If you’ve got a minute, take a look at this video and then head on over to see more information about the Kickstarter Campaign.
Honestly? I have not been compensated for this post. I’m sharing it because this is a company I think is doing all the right things. Thanks, Modify, for taking good care of your customers and good luck reaching your goal!

That is amazing! I need to look at the site! I need a watch for School lunchtime. I wonder what they are made from. I have to saty away from any type of latex.

Thanks, Amy! @Kat, they are made out of silicone!
