Ever since I first put a paintbrush in his hand at two years old, Little Crafter has absolutely loved painting. It’s taken him five years to decide that coloring is an acceptable art form, but he’ll jump at the opportunity to paint anytime it’s offered. So, he and I were both equally excited about the release of a brand new line of products from CraftProjectIdeas.com called “Master of the Arts”! They’ve always offered a great variety of crafting supplies and project kits for kids, but this new line of kits focuses on giving children the tools to practice fine art skills.
Little Crafter got to choose two kits to sample, and one of his choices was the Textured Painting Kit.
It comes with a design pad {blank paper to paint on}, three colors of washable paint and a color mixing chart, and three textured tools; a sponge roller, a sponge mop brush, and a foam textured brush. We also received a pack of four extra texture brushes to play with.
And play he did! Little Crafter went straight for the mop brush, then subsequently tested out each of the tools on its own sheet of paper to see what they could do.
At first, he worked with the colors as they were; blue, red, and yellow, but eventually he decided that mixing was more fun and he set out to make green and purple too.
Once each tool had been tested, LC wanted to make a “masterpiece.” I gave him a piece of Elmer’s foam board and let him go to town. He used several of the different tools, including his favorite of the textured foam brushes and the sponge roller. He had a blast playing with the different tools, and for some reason, he even thought it was fun to clean them himself too! I don’t know why, but I’ll take it!
Now, both of us are anxious to try out the other kit he received, the Watercolor Kit. {I may or may not have been tempted to play with it while he’s at school….}
These kits will be available in Walmart stores at the end of April for $4.97 or less! You can’t beat that price! Some of the kits that will be available include:
Chalk Art, Watercolors, Drawing, Clay, Finger Painting, and Texture Painting. Each kit includes step-by-step instructions and all the materials necessary for the projects. They are designed for kiddos ages 3-8 to explore a child’s creativity and “discover the artist in every child.” I, personally, think it’s a fantastic idea to expose little ones to fine art skills and tools at an early age, and I know Little Crafter is going to have lots of fun with several of these! Which ones do you think your family would most enjoy?
In the meantime, CraftProjectIdeas.com is offering FIVE lucky readers a Master of the Arts kit to sample! Yes, you heard that right, there will be FIVE winners! Rafflecopter will walk you through the entry process; good luck!
