Thanks to P&G and Lucky Magazine for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are honestly my own.
It’s April, and it still doesn’t feel like spring in Maryland! So, I’m running away to California! That’s right, I’m headed to the gorgeous West Coast for Lucky FABB L.A.! I cannot wait to meet up with the other New Voices of Beauty again and to attend all the amazing sessions about everything from SEO to style tips from Nicole Richie! I fly out tomorrow morning, which means it’s definitely time to start packing. I’m still debating about what outfits to take, so I started by packing my makeup bag first…that’s easier! I always think it’s fun when I read magazines to see someone empty her purse and talk about what’s inside, so I thought I’d do that for you today with my makeup bag…here’s what’s coming with me to L.A.!
Here’s a peek at my must-have beauty products. Why are they my faves? I’m so glad you asked! Read on, dear friend, read on.
A. Olay Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer
I have to tell you a secret. Lean in close. {I have really dry skin!} So, I’ve tried just about every moisturizer on the market. Some make my face feel greasy. Some don’t seem to absorb well. Some make me break out. And some just plain stink. But not this one! This Hydrating Gel Moisturizer smells fresh and clean, rubs right in, and makes my skin feel great thanks to the honeysuckle and antioxidant-rich white tea it contains. Honestly, it’s my favorite moisturizer I’ve ever used; I really do use it every single day, and not just because I work with P&G.
B. Secret Destinations Collection
I definitely want to make sure I’m fresh and dry in front of all those other fashion bloggers and Lucky staffers! I’ve been using Secret deodorant since high school, so why change now? This scent, Brazil Rainforest Mist, from the Secret Destinations Collection promises 48 hour odor protection. Yes, please!
C. COVERGIRL Bombshell Shine Shadow – Platinum Club, Gold Goddess
I’ve always preferred cream shadows to powder ones, in part because they apply so smoothly. These Bombshell Shine Shadows from COVERGIRL are my new favorites because not only are they creamy and gorgeous, they actually have reflective pigments that make them shimmer and shine when light hits your face. You know me, I love anything that shines! Plus, I’ve found that a little of this goes a long way, so even though the tube is small, it will last you a nice long time.
D. COVERGIRL LipPerfection™ Jumbo Gloss Balm – Frosted Cherry Twist
I. love. this. It’s like a big giant crayon and I adore this color! It’s so pretty…a pinky-coraly shade that’s perfect for Spring! I’ve been wearing this shade practically nonstop for the past week.
E. COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara
I’m all about long lashes, and this mascara has a unique two step formula to make them look their longest and fullest. Step 1 is an extreme volume basecoat to thicken your lashes, then step 2 is a dark, intensifying topcoat.
F. COVERGIRL Outlast All Day Lipcolor: Canyon, Ever Red-dy
This is my go-to kind of lipcolor because it honestly does last all day long! You just apply the color in the morning and it stays put all day, no matter how many times you eat, how many kisses you giave, or how many cups of coffee you drink…ahem.
G. Olay Fresh Effects Bright On Schedule Eye Awakening Cream
Dark circles under the eyes? Kiss those goodbye with this cream…and the best part? It has three little roller balls on the applicator that massage the area under your eyes as you apply it to help reduce puffiness while the cream itself hydrates the under-eye skin.
H. COVERGIRL truMAGIC – The SunKisser
I’m about as pale as it gets, but I want to look at least a little tan when I get to California! So, I’m bringing along this truMAGIC bronzer! A quick sweep across the forehead and cheekbones, and voilá, I’ll look like an L.A. native…uh, maybe…
I. COVERGIRL truBLEND FixStick Concealer
It never fails that when I have an important event, I end up with a big zit somewhere prominent. Nice, huh? This time, it’s on the side of the bridge of my nose. How convenient. Fortunately, this concealer does just what it says…it’s the absolute best concealer I’ve ever used. Honestly. It’s kind of like a big, giant, magical crayon.
J. COVERGIRL Instant Cheekbones Contouring Blush
I’ve been using this for a long time now…which I think you can tell by looking at it. I like the three different shade choices and the way you can contour them for different looks.
K. Pantene Pro-V Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo
Ok, so those of you who pay attention know that I have to fly all the way across the country to get to FABB. So, technically, I can’t actually pack this next item…silly no combustibles rule…lol. But I sure wish I could! Pantene’s new Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo is formulated to help extend your hairstyle another day with no water required. I’m going to be attending at least one event where I’m getting my hair done {how fun and fabulous is that?!} so I may have to stop by a store out there and pick some of this up to keep my style fresh!
L. Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off Makeup Removal Wet Cloths
If I had to choose just one thing I couldn’t do without, it would be these cloths. They’re pre-moistened, so they don’t make a mess, and they do an amazing job of removing makeup, even waterproof mascara. They have a great scent and leave my face feeling clean and fresh at the end of the day. I literally use these every single day and I can’t imagine traveling without them!
Look how nicely it all fits in my make up travel bag! I’ve got everything I need to look FABB-ulous for the conference, don’t you think?
And here’s a peek at how it all looks on my face! This particular look was done using items A, B, C, D, E, I, and J for a wedding we attended this past weekend. I seriously love that mascara…
Ok, now, time to move on to packing my outfits! What am I going to wear?!

I love your make-up bag. I almost bought the Covergirl jumbo gloss balm, but I opted for another (not cover girl). You are going to have so much fun this weekend!!
Sky says
You look amazing! I’ve gotta try that mascara- I’m forever unhappy with what I’m using. And the eye awakening stuff for that matter! Hope you have an awesome, warm trip, hon!

this sounds like such a fun trip–and seriously, could you get any cuter? I really appreciate all the tips you share here. I could use any help I can get when it comes to makeup.

That Jumbo gloss looks cool! I got to try the Clinique Chubby Sticks today ,but this looks like a much more affordable option.

Just beautiful Amy! I might have to try out the lip balm – I’m terrible at picking colors and textures.
