Thanks to Expressionery for sponsoring today’s giveaway and post. Also, thanks to Krylon, Plaid Crafts, and Elmer’s for providing some of the supplies used in this project. As always, all opinions are honestly my own!
Hey, Friends! Today I have an awesome giveaway for you, but first, a super cute and easy project idea too! Last September, when I spoke at Bloggy Con ’13, I had the privilege of meeting the amazingly talented Laura Kelly, who {among other crafty things} is the artist behind the cute little characters called Me & My Peeps. They are the most adorable little people, and here’s the best part…you can choose and customize the ones that look most like your family and order them on all kinds of things at Expressionery! You can get notecards, stationery, address labels, and more, all with characters to represent whoever you want!
Here’s how it works. You choose a product, click “personalize,” and you’ll end up on a page where you get to choose and customize up to 10 people in your “Peeps Family.”
You start by choosing a basic person…I obviously picked “Coffee Lady” to represent myself. Then, you can change hair color, skin color, and clothing/shoe colors. Little Crafter, after looking at all the boy options, wanted to be the “Art Boy” with a purple shirt, and we picked the spiky haired man to represent hubby. Once your family is created and saved, you can move on to ordering the products you want.
After your products arrive, the real fun begins because not only are you able to use them as cards, notepads, etc., the creative possibilities are endless! Take a look at what I created using a piece of our personalized stationery!
ME & MY PEEPS FAMILY DOOR HANGER
TIME REQUIRED: 30 minutes
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: easy/beginner
SPECIAL TOOLS/SKILLS: none, other than being a patient spray-painter!
Materials:
– unfinished wooden door hanger
– wooden stars or other shapes
– Me & My Peeps Stationery
– Krylon spray paint {mine was ColorMaster Ocean Breeze and Blue Shimmer Metallic}
– Scissors
– Mod Podge Gloss
– Elmer’s Glue
– paint brush or sponge brush
Step 1: Spray paint your door hanger and stars and let them dry completely. If you’re a beginner spray-painter, check out my Tips and Tricks for Successful Spray Painting post!
Step 2: While you wait for your paint to dry, carefully cut out each family member from a sheet of your stationery or a note card. Then, cut out your family name.
Step 3: Spread a thin coat of Mod Podge over the front of the door hanger. Stick the family members and name in place where you want them to be. Then, paint another coat of Mod Podge over the entire door hanger, including your “family” to seal it.
Step 4: Glue your stars in place.
As soon as the Mod Podge and glue are dry, your door hanger is ready to use! Little Crafter claimed this one for his own room…big surprise. Not only were we able to create this fun project, we’re also looking forward to using our note cards! They even sent us a fun monster set just for Little Crafter to use. I imagine he’ll be putting those to good use this summer writing notes to his girlfriend since they won’t be seeing each other every day in school!
So, what about you, friend? What would your Peeps family look like? Expressionery is offering one reader the chance to find out! The winner of this giveaway will receive a stationery set valued at $150 PLUS a $200 Amazon Gift Card! Talk about an awesome prize, right?! Ready to enter?
