I don’t know if you can relate, friends, but I constantly feel like I have more things to do than hours in the day to do them! Between being a mom, being a full-time blogger, volunteering at my son’s school, and trying to stay on top of my household responsibilities, I feel like something always has to give. So, I’m all about anything, whether it’s a tip or a product, that saves me time and frees me up to do more of the things I love. Recently, I heard about something new called Suavitel Fast Dry, which is a fabric softener with a unique technology that wicks away water from fabric to help clothes dry 30% faster! Laundry is one of those never-ending jobs on my to-do list, so anything that promises to save me time getting it done is worth a try in this house. Plus, since our clothes will dry faster, it will save energy too…bonus!
Suavitel Fast Dry was really simple to find in my local Walmart; I just headed to the Fabric Softener aisle and found the big pink bottles. I chose the Magical Morning Sun scent, and it was also available in Fabulous Field Flowers. {Yes, I admit I took the caps off and sniffed them in the store.}
Once I got it home, it was time to run some laundry. To use Suavitel Fast Dry, you just add the appropriate amount for the size of your load during the final rinse cycle. But more importantly, it was time to make good use of the time I’m saving. And what could be more fun than making the most of a gorgeous season with the people I love? Since I’m not stuck waiting forever for my chores to be done, I have more time to spend with my family and friends and more time to make crafty projects to share with all of you! Sometimes the two things even go together, like this…
Little Crafter has been begging me for awhile now to help him make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pumpkin, so that’s exactly what I did. He had the day off school on Friday, so we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went to a local pick-your-own-pumpkin patch to find the perfect turtle wannabe.
My mom came along, and so did some of Little Crafter’s friends from school and their moms. We started out by taking a hay ride on an enormous tractor-pulled wagon to the patch itself, then LC and his buddies walked between all the rows searching for just the right pumpkins to pick.
Each of the boys found a green pumpkin {I believe one of them is going to become Yoda…} they couldn’t wait to take home and decorate! Plus, they had such a great time just being together. It was a lot of fun for this mama to watch them enjoying each other, the day, and the experience.
Once we got the pumpkin home, it was time to turn it into LC’s favorite turtle, Michaelangelo. It was really simple; here’s how we did it…
You Need:
– a green pumpkin {or an orange one and lots of green paint!}
– orange Oly-Fun or fabric
– scissors, pencil
– Elmer’s Painters: white and black
Step 1: Cut a strip of Oly-Fun/fabric long enough to go around your pumpkin. Trace two circles and cut out eye holes. This will be your turtle’s mask.
Step 2: Hold the mask where you plan to place it on your pumpkin. Use a pencil to lightly trace where the circles will be.
Step 3: Use Elmer’s Painters in white to fill in the circles. Let the paint dry completely, then draw and fill in smaller black circles on top. Add a nose and mouth using a black paint marker.
Step 4: Wrap your mask around the pumpkin and glue in place.
That’s all there is to it! Just a few supplies, and a little bit of time, and you have yourself a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pumpkin in plenty of time for Halloween. I’m so glad I had the extra time in my schedule to take a fun trip to the pumpkin patch and to craft with LC. Can you tell he loves his turtle-pumpkin? What are some of your favorite time saving tips?
