One of my favorite things about celebrating Christmas is creating our own family traditions and watching Little Crafter get more excited about them every year. I know we’re making memories now that will last a lifetime, and there’s just nothing like seeing the joy on his face as he anticipates some of his favorite holiday activities.
Among those favorites is our Christmas Eve gift exchange. As I’m sure you know, by the time Christmas Eve rolls around, it’s almost impossible {especially for a six year old} to wait those few more hours to dig into what’s under the tree, so we have a tradition of exchanging a few gifts right before bedtime after we get home from candlelight service. I love the idea of giving each other, “Something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read.” Have you heard of that before? While the book, the “want” and the “need” will be surprises, we know the “something to wear” will be a brand new pair of pajamas to wear that night! Little Crafter always looks forward to unwrapping his new pj’s, wearing them to bed, and waking up in them on Christmas morning.
All three of us are total suckers for comfy pajamas, but we each have very distinct things we like. Fortunately, today’s post sponsor Joe Boxer pajamas from Kmart are available in the styles we all prefer, so I was able to very easily order all of them with one quick trip to the Kmart website. {All opinions are my own!}
Little Crafter’s absolute favorite kind of pajamas are footies; he would even wear them in the summer if he could. And whenever possible, he likes them to be fuzzy and soft too. So, I ordered him these Football print Joe Boxer Footie Pajamas. The first thing he told me was that they had plenty of room for his feet, which he liked. He has a very high instep, so a lot of footies tend to run a little tight in that area, but these allow room for his foot to move around comfortably, which is great news! The next thing he told me is that they are “super comfortable,” and then he promptly refused to take them off.
As for hubby, his preference is comfortable flannel pajama pants, which he wears with a t-shirt. Since his favorite color is blue, I chose these Joe Boxer Blue Plaid Flannel Pants which come with pockets and a drawstring elastic waist. Since hubby is so tall and thin, it’s important for him to be able to adjust the waist to fit. He tried these on and immediately declared them the most comfortable pajamas he owns. I may end up buying him another pair since he likes them so much! Besides the plaid patterns, they’re available in camo and various funny holiday prints and sayings, so it’ll be easy to find something that looks totally different but has the same comfortable fit and feel.
Me? Well, I like cute matching sets. I love the look of cozy flannel pj’s, but I get too hot when I wear them, so I look for sets that come with a t-shirt style top and cotton/jersey pants. As soon as I saw this Joe Boxer Owls set, I knew it was the perfect choice. It comes with a long sleeved “Night Owl” t-shirt {which I totally am, by the way}, matching owl print pants, and a coordinating pair of shorts too, so I can mix and match. FYI, though, the sizing on these is definitely more like Juniors. I ordered a size larger than the clothing I typically wear because I like my pajamas to be loose and comfy, and I’m so glad I did because I don’t think my normal size would have even fit. One size up, though, fits and feels great.
Now all three of us are ready to celebrate in our cozy new pj’s…and I’m not sure who’s going to be the hardest to convince when it’s time to take them off and get dressed up for our various family gatherings!
Speaking of festive pj’s, to debut this year’s holiday collection, Kmart is bringing back its iconic Joe Boxer ads that are sure to spread a little cheer, like this one, appropriately called Santa Baby:
Or, if you prefer, Jingle Bellies…

We always open Pj’s on Christmas Eve also, and make cookies for Santa (so they are fresh). The other gift we open is always a movie that we snuggle up and watch together as a family with some popcorn and hot cocoa.
