Thanks to Fresh Step® Compact Packs for sponsoring today’s post. All opinions are honestly my own.
Friends, if you’ve been following along for a while, you know there are actually four members of the Artsy Family…hubby, myself, Little Crafter, and Flynn. Last February, Flynn came into our lives as a tiny kitten, and life hasn’t been the same since!
Sometimes he’s full of energy and loves to play, but for much of the day he’s content to curl up on my leg and snooze while I work. He’s a constant companion, and he’s even been known to follow one of his humans into the shower! We’ve watched him grow from a baby and celebrated his first birthday. There’s nothing quite like the love of a furry friend.
Taking care of that furry friend, though, can be another matter entirely. My least favorite part of caring for Flynn is changing his litter. Not only is it no fun, it can be a struggle for a petite person to lug a heavy litter container all over the house and up and down the stairs…not to mention the mess I can make when I try pouring it. That’s why I’m excited about something brand new coming out on the market. Fresh Step® is launching a brand new Compact Pack that features the equivalent of a 34 or 38 lb. box packaged in four smaller packs designed to make the job of changing litter more convenient.
We already always use Fresh Step® litter, because it’s the best at keeping our house smelling fresh despite when Flynn has a “call from nature.” Now, these Compact Packs are easier to store in and around our house, and to pour into the litter box. They’re perfect for anyone with limited space, as well as pet owners with multiple litter boxes…just keep one of the small packs near each box.
But that’s not all! Once you take out the four small packs, you’re left with a cardboard box you can have a little fun with. We love to take funny photos of Flynn, so I decided to use the box to create some little speech bubble photo props. Here’s how to make your own…I bet you’ll find them as amusing as we do.
DIY Pet Photo Props
You’ll need:
Fresh Step® Compact Packs packaging {cardboard box}
Scissors
Paint {I used FolkArt Multi-Surface in Ice Blue and Pistachio}
Paintbrush
Permanent Marker {Mine is the Sharpie Brush Tip}
Step 1: Use scissors to cut out the shape of a speech bubble. If you like, you can sketch the shape in pencil first on the bottom of the box, then cut it out.
Step 2: Paint the cardboard. One coat should give you good enough coverage.
Step 3: Use a permanent marker to write a funny statement you can imagine your cat making. You can write this in any style you like, but since I’m obsessed with hand lettering, I used my brush lettering skills. Make sure the paint is completely dry before you try to write on it.
That’s all there is to it! Now you can use these signs to your heart’s content!
Trust me, you’ll enjoy them…
