Hi Friend, I’m Amy!

I’m so glad you’re here! I’m the artist and best-selling author behind Amy Latta Creations. I absolutely love creating art and craft projects, but what I love even more is helping others discover and express their own creativity.

I especially enjoy helping beginners and people who don’t think they’re artistic realize they can create beautiful things.

Whether you’re just starting out or have been making art your whole life, I’m excited to be part of your creative journey! My specialty is hand lettering, but I also quilt, make home decor, paint, and design projects for every holiday and season.

In addition to sharing tutorials here on my website, I teach virtual and in-person workshops all across the country through venues like Michaels Community Classroom and Pinners Conference.

I regularly appear on lifestyle shows like Good Day PA, Hello Iowa, Great Day Live! Tampa Bay, AM Northwest, Arizona Midday, and more with simple projects anyone can create.

My books, including the best-sellers Hand Lettering for Relaxation and Doodle Everything are designed to teach lettering and drawing skills to everyone from ages 6-106!

My Story

Ever since I was a child, I have loved crafting of all kinds. Some of my favorite memories are learning to sew with my mom and making as many projects as I could to enter in the 4-H fair.

When I graduated from McDaniel College in 2002, I put aside my art for a while and worked as a public school teacher.

In 2008, when my son was born, I made the choice to stay home with him, and as he grew, we started crafting together, just as my mom and I did when I was little.

I wanted to share some of the things we were doing with other moms, so I started a very simple blog, then called One Artsy Mama, with the hopes of inspiring a few people.

Much to my surprise, companies started partnering with me to teach people how to use their products, and before I knew it, I ended up reaching far more people than I ever dared to dream. As my son got older, my blog began to focus less on kids’ crafts and more on my own projects, so I renamed it Amy Latta Creations since it wasn’t just for moms anymore.

What You Will Find on This Blog

Here on the blog, my goal is to help you tap into your creativity and make some awesome things! Whether you’re just starting a new hobby or have been crafting forever, there’s something just for you.

You’ll find tons of step-by-step tutorials for hand lettering, quilting, and general craft projects for everyday as well as holiday celebrations. I also have lots of free original quilting and sewing patterns for everything from decorative pillows and mug mats to tote bags and lap quilts.

If you are learning to hand letter, make sure to download and print out my free traceable practice pages for every letter of the alphabet. I believe that practice makes progress, so as you try and try again, you’ll get better every time!

Besides here on the website, I hope you’ll find and connect with me on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter.

I’d also like to invite you to join my private Facebook group, Amy Latta and Friends. It’s a vibrant and engaged community of over 4,000 crafters, where you can share photos, ask questions, and connect not just with me, but with others who enjoy all kinds of creative hobbies.

It’s a great place for us all to inspire each other. You may also enjoy my weekly e-newsletter, which includes bonus content, corny jokes, and feature projects created by folks in the Facebook group.

My projects and books have been featured in places like the Today Show and Hallmark Home & Family, Martha Stewart.com, Woman’s World, Style Blueprint, PaperCrafter, and InStyle magazine, but what matters more to me is being able to make an impact in someone’s life.

A lot has changed and grown

From February through May of 2023, I organized a campaign called #Make1000Give1000 with Hearts Need Art where we collected 4,011 handmade hearts from creators all over the country plus Italy, Australia, Canada, and Sweden.

We then distributed those hearts to hospital patients and caregivers at 9 different hospitals in the San Antonio area. Using our talents to bless others is the best feeling!

I’m sure you’ve already figured out that my craft studio is one of my favorite places to be, and things have come full circle because I spend lots of time there creating with both my sons and my mom.

In those moments when I’m not covered in paint or sitting at my sewing machine, though, I enjoy ballroom and Latin dancing, traveling, drinking iced coffee, and spending time with my family, which includes my husband and two teenage sons.

I’d love to learn more about you; feel free to reach out through my contact form or on social media so we can chat!

While you are here…
