Art for Kids: At-Home Video Series

Art for Kids

Many kids are learning from home this year, whether they’re doing virtual school or homeschooling, which means many parents and grandparents are now playing the role of teacher. To make it just a little bit easier on all of us, I thought it would be fun to make a series of art classes available for you and the kids in your life, called “At Home With Van Gogh: Art for Kids.” These videos will be following what my boys and I are doing together, and they can easily be adapted for kids in grades K-12. We will be learning a variety of different art skills while looking at the works of Vincent VanGogh. The first lesson deals with Realism and creating an animal drawing. The actual project can be done over a period of several days/classes, as they’ll start by watching the video, then do some grid drawing practice, a sketch of their animal, and then the final project, I anticipate it taking us about a week to complete. Below the video, you’ll find all the links to printable handouts that go with the lesson and other resources too. Stay tuned for more lessons in the coming weeks! Happy creating!
