I think most people have that one place in the house that just tends to get cluttered with “stuff.” For me, it’s the kitchen counter. I get it all cleaned off and then before I know it, the mail starts piling up and it’s just a mess again. I decided that for the new year, I wanted to do a better job of keeping the kitchen neat and organized, so I dug out a plastic organizer we had but weren’t using. Honestly? It was boring. So, I decided to spruce it up a bit with the new Mod Podge Sheer Colors and make myself want to use it! Here’s what I did:
Materials:
– organizer
– Mod Podge Sheers {I used Aqua}
– sponge brush
– glitter
– adhesive stencil
Here’s that plain old organizer…isn’t it sad and boring? Yuck.
Step 1: Apply Mod Podge Sheers to the surface of the organizer. I used a sponge brush, which gave good even coverage. You can do as many or as few coats as you like. I gave mine about three coats, letting it dry in between.
Step 2: To add a little decorative touch, choose a stencil you like {you know I love me some polka dots} and stick it on the front.
Step 3: Apply more of the Mod Podge Sheers over the stencil, then remove the stencil itself. Sprinkle with glitter and shake off the excess.
Ta da! Easy as pie! Well, easier, I think, because making pie isn’t very simple at all! 🙂 In any case, now I have an organizer that’s much more fun…I actually want to use it and it helps me a lot just having a designated place where the mail can “live” that isn’t strewn all over the counter.
See? It looks much neater {and more stylish} this way!
Mod Podge Sheers are available in Michaels stores and on Plaid’s website now, and you can get them in nine different colors! They’re great on glass, wood, and metal too…I can’t wait to try mine out on some different surfaces. If you’re a Mod Podge lover like I am, you’ll also be excited about a few other new products in the line that are also available now in Michaels. I already shared with you about the Facet Cut Shapes I used to make my “Dream” Necklace, and there’s also {are you ready for this?!} Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge! That’s right, you can put those projects in the top rack of your dishwasher now!! How awesome is that?
