American Flag Pouch

What could be cuter for summer than a pouch that pays tribute to the American flag? Here’s a free pattern to guide you through creating your own using your favorite red, white, and blue fabrics.

How to Make an American Flag Pouch

To create your own flag pouch, you’ll first piece the front to create the flag, then sew the parts of the pouch together, using the free pattern as a guide.

You’ll Need:

  • Red, white, and blue fabric for pouch front, back, and lining (I used my Oh Say Can You Sew collection coming from Andover fabrics in 2026!)
  • 8” zipper
  • fusible fleece
  • free pattern

Crafting Tips

  • This pouch can easily be made using fabrics from a layer cake (pack of pre-cut 10” squares).
  • Ask your favorite fabric stores to place their order for Oh Say Can You Sew now!
  • Using fusible fleece on the front and back of the pouch gives it structure and helps it to stand up, rather than being floppy.
  • Make your pouch doubly patriotic by repeating the process to make the front AND the bag flag-themed.
