Snowman Jar

Hi, friends!  As most of you know, I’m attending the CHA {Craft and Hobby Assn} MegaShow this weekend, and I’m busy taking in as much as I can so I can come back and share it all with you!  In the meantime, I wanted to make sure there was no shortage of inspiration here on the blog while I’m away.  So, today, we have a guest with us to share a fun and simple upcycled project you can do with your kiddos to beat the winter blues!

Here she is; let’s give a warm artsy welcome to Carly Leen!

carlyHello, my name is Carly and I have twin 2 year old boys. When I tell you I had no bigger dream than to be a mom, I am telling you the honest truth. 🙂 I do not take a day for granted with my two “bears”, and I enjoy showing and sharing my ideas on 2 Bears and Counting. I also have been a teacher for 5 years and teach Kindergarten.  I have been home full time with my boys for the last 2 years. My heart and passion is spreading the word on how important the early childhood years are to our children, so it is also a dream come true to have created my new facebook page and blog www.2bearsandcounting.com. Please follow us on our adventures through childhood, we are grateful for every fan that joins our page/adventure 🙂

SNOWMAN BABY FOOD JAR

Snowman Jar

Materials:
– 6 oz glass baby food jar
– Mod Podge or other decoupage formula
– scissors
– orange and black construction paper
– white tissue paper cut squares, approximately 1″

First, paint the jar with the decoupage formula.

Then, stick the tissue paper squares on to cover the entire surface.  You can be messy with this. 🙂

Then, cover the entire jar with glue/Mod Podge again so it’s smooth.  Finally, add the face details and seal with decoupage formula.

Voilá!  An adorable homemade snowman!  I even put an LED tealight in him at night to watch him glow.  The boys love seeing the snowman come alive at nighttime.

What do you think, friends?  I thought these were super cute; a fun twist on our Jack-o-Lantern Luminaries and BOO Bottles.  Thanks to Carly for sharing this fun and easy kiddo craft with us today!  Hope it inspires you to make a few of your own to light up the cold winter nights!

P.S. Be sure to follow me on Instagram {@oneartsymama} and Twitter {@oneartmama} for the latest on what’s happening at CHA!
