Valentine’s Day: The Duck® Way

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Duck Brand provided by ShurTech Brands, LLC for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Friends, as we head into February, can you feel it?  Love is in the air!  It’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day!  I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to pull out the red and pink decor and have hearts everywhere as I look forward to showing the special people in my life how much I love them!   I’m all about having lots of fun and seasonal decor around the house, so I’m excited to show you my latest Valentine’s Day craft; a festive vase made with Duck Brand® Tape!

VALENTINE VASE

Duck Tape Valentine Vase

Materials:

– empty glass bottle {mine was left over from a bottled frappuccino I thoroughy enjoyed}
– Duck Brand® Tape: I used red, pink, and white, but there are also lots of other fun Valentine designs!
– scissors
– ribbon
– permanent marker

 Step 1: Clean and dry your bottle.

Step 2: Starting at the bottom, wrap a strip of tape around the bottle, joining the ends in the back.

Step 3: Repeat, alternating tape colors/designs until the entire bottle is covered.  I wanted my stripes to be thinner than the width of the tape, so I overlapped the pieces, covering about half of the previous stripe with the new one.

Step 4: Cut a heart shape from your white tape and stick it to the front of the bottle. You can write anything you like on it with a permanent marker.  I found that it was easier to cut the tape when I held the sticky side down and had the shiny side toward myself.

Step 5: Wrap a ribbon around the top of the bottle and tie a knot in front.  Trim ends. The ribbon serves two purposes; one is that it’s just cute and decorative, but the other is that it covers up the inevitable wrinkles you’ll get on the neck of the bottle.  Because the bottle neck is not flat and smooth, the tape can’t be either, but the ribbon will conceal most of that.

All you have to do now is add flowers and enjoy!  My flowers are artificial since I’m allergic to real ones, but you can use whatever you like!  It’s a really simple, affordable, and quick little piece of decor to whip up for your home or as a sweet gift to show a friend how much you care this Valentine’s Day!  Plus, it’s upcycling an old empty bottle that would have gone out with the trash!  Be sure to check out the other fun Valentine’s Day designs and colors available from Duck Brand® for all your Valentine crafting needs, and follow The Duck Brand® on Twitter for more holiday inspiration!

  1. At first glance, I thought it looked like a drink from your favorite place, and after reading, of COURSE it is 🙂 I love it. What a great excuse to get more of those fun drinks, so you can make an army of cute vases!
