I have a confession to make.
Remember when my co-host Kara from Happy-Go-Lucky shared her fun Christmas traditions with us last Sunday?
I was so darn excited to have her here at One Artsy Mama as part of the {Our} Home for the Holidays series that I totally forgot that I was guest posting on her blog that day too!
So, I didn’t give you the link, which means you may not have seen the holiday decorations I shared there.
My bad.
To make it up to you, I’m re-posting them here today! Hope you enjoy!

Today, I’m going to share with you two easy holiday decorations you can make yourself that require very little time and money! Both of them feature ornaments…they’re not just for the tree anymore!
SPARKLY ORNAMENT WREATH
Materials: pine wreath
7-8 ornaments
wire garland
wide ribbon or pre-made bow
floral wire
hot glue
scissors/wire cutters
STEP 1: Create a large bow made from your wide ribbon and attach it to the left side of your wreath with floral wire. If you aren’t a bow-maker or want to speed up the project, you can always buy a pre-made bow at your local craft store.
STEP 2: Place your ornaments around the wreath, alternating colors. I suggest waiting to glue them until you’ve played around with it and are happy with how they look. Then, place hot glue on the top of each one and glue them so they’re snuggled down in the branches.
STEP 3: {my favorite!} Cut pieces of wire garland in various lengths. Twist one end around a branch, then curl it like a spring. Continue until all your empty spaces are filled up with sparkly fun! Some of them, I leave popping off the wreath, while for others, I twist the other end to a second branch.
Just keep playing around with it until you’re satisfied!
That’s all there is to it! I hang mine inside the house because it got smooshed when I tried putting it between the front door and screen door. Each year, I store it in a plastic tote and it looks as fresh as ever when I pull it out the next time. I’ve also made these as gifts and for a local Festival of Wreaths. Everyone always loves the fun 3-D effect of the garland, and it’s so easy to do!
Here’s another quick ornament project; if you have some left over from your wreath, this is a perfect way to use them!
FESTIVE CENTERPIECE
Materials:
ornaments
hurricane vase
Ready for the tutorial? Put your ornaments in the vase. Yup. That’s it!
Even the littlest of hands can help with this one.
Hope you enjoy these fun decorating DIY projects! And I definitely hope you’ll join us for the first Happy Go Lucky and One Artsy Mama linky party TODAY!
How cool is it that we get to start on 11-11-11!
We’re calling it “Shine On Fridays” and I sure hope to see you there showing off your latest and greatest projects!

Oh I love that centrepiece. Just recently I picked up a similar hurricane vase at the thrift store so I’m good to go.
