Valentine Bookmarks

Well, friends, it’s that time of year…the time when the Artsy Family turns our thoughts toward two big events.  The Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day!  The other day when I was browsing online for cute kids’ crafts, I saw some handmade valentine bookmarks from Sweet and Lovely Crafts that caught my eye.  I immediately pinned them and knew we had to make our own.
VALENTINE BOOKMARKS
Here’s how:
Materials:
– white cardstock
– hole punch
– assorted washi tape
– fine-tip black marker
– green and red markers
– red, orange, purple, and green ink pads
– Silhouette Cameo {optional} or scissors
– ribbon
STEP 1: Cut out your bookmarks.
You can certainly do this step with a paper cutter or plain ol’ scissors.  We opted to use Cammie because, well, we just like to play with her around here.  I made an image in PicMonkey, uploaded it in my Silhouette Studio software, and then selected “Trace.” Then, I duplicated it and cut out as many as I could on a sheet of white cardstock.  You can see that my helper was fascinated.  I let him push all the buttons.
STEP 1b {Cammie users only}: Peel your bookmarks off the adhesive mat.

STEP 2: Wrap washi tape around the top of each bookmark.

STEP 3: Punch a hole in the top of each bookmark.

STEP 4: Place child’s thumb or finger on ink pad, then on bookmark to create fruit design.
We used LC’s thumb for the oranges, apples, and olives, and his pinky finger for the grapes.

STEP 5: Add words with fine-tip marker.
Apple – “You’re the apple of my eye, Valentine!”
Orange – “Orange you glad we’re friends?”
Olive – “Olive You, Valentine!”
Grapes – “Valentine, I think you’re grape!”

STEP 6: Add details, like stems and leaves.

STEP 7: Add ribbon or jute.

That’s all there is to it!  Now they’re ready to share!  Remember, all the credit for this project goes to So Lovely Crafts!
What do you like to give to your Valentines?
Hugs & Glitter,
