Easy Washi Tape Ornaments {and a Blitsy giveaway}!

Thanks to Blitsy.com for sponsoring this post and giveaway!

Hey, friends!  Today, I have a really fun and super simple DIY ornament/gift tag for you!  But first, I want to tell you a little bit about where I got my main supply.

Have you ever heard of Blitsy.com?  Blitsy is a daily deal site where you can grab all kinds of brand name craft supplies including products for paper crafting, needle crafts, fine arts, kids’ crafts, jewelry, and more at up to 70% off.  All you do is sign up for a free account, and you’ll get emails about their daily deals.  Each deal lasts for 7 days, or until the product sells out.  Some days, the featured products aren’t really of interest to me, but some days I hit the jackpot!  So far, I’ve bought some great Vintaj tags for metal stamped jewelry, some gorgeous Martha Stewart glitter, and a bunch of really fun washi tape, which is what I’m using today!

Here’s how I used some of my coordinating washi tape to make these:

Washi Tape Ornament

Materials:
– washi tape
– cardstock
– ornament shaped paper punch {you could also substitute a different shape!}
– twine
– tape

Step 1: Adhere your washi tape to the cardstock.  Try to match up the edges exactly so that you don’t have any gaps.

Step 2: Punch out an ornament {or other} shape.  I like doing this with my punch upside down so I can line it up exactly the way I want to and see what I’m doing!

Here’s how mine looked…just imagine all the different possibilities you could come up with using different colored and patterned tapes, and different punches!

Step 3: Add a piece of twine as a hanger.  I just taped mine to the back of the ornament, but you could also punch a small hole in the top and thread it through.  I would have probably done that if I knew what happened to my mini hole punch…but alas, it’s “temporarily misplaced” in the giant mess that is my craft room!

Now it’s all ready to use!  It would make a sweet little gift tag; just write the recipient’s name on the back!

Then, after opening the gift, they can reuse it as an ornament on the tree!

I couldn’t resist showing you one more picture because I thought you’d enjoy noticing what else is living on our tree…hehe.

  1. I love the pattern on the tape, does anyone know who makes it, I can’t seem to find it on the Blitsy site. Also, any ideas where to get that punch??

    Thanks!!

  2. I would like to see mystery bags filled with random craft items. I like to stretch/challenge my creativity from time to time and mystery bags would be a fun way to do so.

  3. I love that Washi Tape Christmas ornament! I’m wanting to try washi tape, mostly with the plan of doing library crafts with it. I had not previously seen the combination of scrapbook paper and washi tape. Love it!

  4. I love what’s on Blitsy! As a matter of fact, I just got an order this week! I like the Tim Holtz products. As for the punch used for the washi ornament, it’s a retired Stampin Up punch, but you could use the current SU ornament punch, or the Ornament Keepsake framelits, not in the Holiday Mini, but they’re carried over from last year, through the end of December.

  5. oooo its like a pick your plum or group dealz for crafting…. how great is that… I would love pretty much anything crafty…maybe fun beads??

  6. I would love to see another cute and fantastic stamps or DIY stamp kit (like rubber and cutter for making stamp) 😀
