Summer is here and there’s so much to celebrate! It’s time for picnics, pool parties, and of course, fireworks! There are so many fun ways to get kids involved in summer holiday fun, like these easy Dot Painted Fireworks crafts. The basic technique is so simple to do, and once you get the hang of it, you can decorate just about anything, including mugs, glasses, flowerpots, vases, photo frames, and more!

You’ll need:

Multi-surface paint in your choice of colors {we like to use red, white, and blue}

Q-tips and/or toothpicks

Paintbrushes

Painting surface

Step 1: Start by preparing your surface. If it’s a photo frame, flower pot, or other unfinished piece, you’ll want to begin by painting it a solid color. If it’s clear glass, just make sure it’s clean and wiped with rubbing alcohol to remove any fingerprints or residue.

Step 2: Choose a center point for your first firework and place a dot of paint there using your Q-tip or toothpick. Either tool works, and so does the hard end of a paint brush or the point of a pencil. Simply decide if you want your dots to be larger or smaller, then choose which one would be the right tool for your particular project.

Step 3: Continue painting dots coming out from the one in the center to form the shape of a firework. You can keep the color the same or alternate colors in any pattern you like.

Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 to create more fireworks all over your project.

There’s no wrong way to do this project, and it’s so much fun even for the smallest of crafters! What can you decorate with Dot Fireworks this summer?
