Where are my fellow cat-loving friends? I’m guessing you can relate to this printable I created with a quote from Ellen Perry Berkeley. Isn’t it the truth?! We all know who’s really in charge when a cat is in the house.

Today, I want to share with you how you can create your own hand-lettered cat quote or download mine as a printable. I did mine on the iPad Pro, so I was able to use layering tools, but you can do the same thing with a pencil, paper, and your favorite lettering markers.

Step 1: Find a cat silhouette image.
Save it to your device and insert it as a layer in the Procreate app OR trace it lightly onto a piece of paper with a pencil.

Step 2: Sketch your words, shaping them to fit inside the silhouette.
I did this by opening a new layer and using a pencil brush with the Apple Pencil in Procreate. Of course, you can easily use a real pencil and write inside the shape you traced. Don’t worry about neatness, this is basically just for spacing so that you get an idea of where and how large each word should be.

Step 3: Open a new layer and begin your lettering OR start tracing your words with marker.
I started with the ones in a print font. I printed the words then added a double line and colored in where I wanted them to be thicker. I also added serifs, the little short strokes on the ends of some of the lines. Then, I did the words that are brush lettered using a brush pen setting with the Apple Pencil. You can, of course, use your favorite brush pen on paper instead.

Step 5: Erase your penciled/sketched words. Then, add highlights wherever you like.
I did a mixture of lines and dots in some of the thickest areas of my letters.

If you like the look of the lettering all on its own, just erase the cat silhouette or delete the layer, and you’ll be left with an image that looks similar to mine above. If you want to really see the outline of the kitty, just trace that with a thin marker too.

This is a fun addition to any cat lovers’ home, don’t you think? Speaking of which, if you ever meet my cat Flynn, you’ll quickly find out that he has one important thing in common with every other male in the family…he LOVES to eat.

We have dry food out for him all day long just in case he gets hungry when it’s not mealtime, but he lives for 5:00 when the wet food comes out! He has a pretty reliable internal clock, so when it’s dinnertime, he hops up from wherever he’s napping and heads straight for the kitchen where he will sit and meow until we give him what he wants. Usually I’m also in the middle of trying to cook our family’s dinner too, so I need the quickest and easiest way to give Flynn his food and keep everyone happy.

That’s why I decided to try Meow Mix Simple Servings, a new, single serving of wet cat food in a convenient, mess-free cup. It comes in single-serve portions, so there are no leftovers to worry about. The easy-to-open and easy-to-serve cup makes mealtime as simple as possible, and Flynn can enjoy pieces of real seafood or poultry in a savory sauce or gravy.

I picked up Meow Mix Simple Servings at Target in the Pet Care section, where you can find a variety of flavors: Tuna & Salmon, Seafood Variety, and Chicken & Turkey.

Flynn is a fan of salmon, so I figured the Tuna & Salmon variety would be his favorite choice. There’s a single serving in every cup, so all I have to do is open and serve – it’s that simple…which is great because as you know Flynn isn’t super patient when he’s hungry.

Now through 11-15, you can try it out for yourself and save 20% on Meow Mix at Target with this Cartwheel offer!

Then you’ll be just as happy as Flynn! Learn more about Simple Servings at DailyBreak.com and follow Meow Mix on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, & Pinterest.
