Ravens Wreath

If you’re a long-time reader of One Artsy Mama, you already know that this family loves our Ravens football team!  We take football very seriously around here, even Little Crafter.  Case in point, hubby just got his *third* Ravens jersey for his birthday {which happens to be today}!

But my favorite is when we’re in public somewhere and LC sees someone wearing the colors of our division rival, the Pittsburg Steelers {who are currently 2-3, by the way}.  He points and yells “BOOOO STEELERS, YAY RAVENS!” at the top of his lungs.
awesome.
Even the Steelers fans {except for Darby Hawley} think it’s kind of funny.
Anyway, given our team love, it’s no surprise that I about jumped out of my chair when I saw this “Nevermore Wreath” made by my friend Jill over at Create. Craft. Love.
I knew immediately that I had to reproduce something like it for our front door this football season!  So, LC and I made a trip to Michaels where we bought us a raven.  Little Crafter insisted we get the glittery one, because after all, “Glitter makes everything better!”
Here are the other materials I used:
– wreath form {I actually reused the one I had from the Lego Party wreath}
– purple ribbon
– silk flowers
– gold glitter leaves or other accent {these are from the Christmas section, on sale at Michaels}!
– hot glue gun and glue sticks
– straight pins
First, I pinned one end of the ribbon to the back of the wreath, then began wrapping it around the form.  {I may or may not have run out of ribbon and supplemented with black since it was getting covered up anyway}.
Second, I glued the little raven in position by his feet.  I bent him back a little so that he would be on a slightly different angle since I wanted my arrangement to be on the side rather than the bottom of the wreath.
Third, I hot glued some of the gold leaves in place along the area where I wanted my flowers to go; above and below the raven.
Fourth, I popped my flowers off their stems and hot glued them in place {I was super excited to find purple and gold flowers!!}
Finally, I added a few more gold leaves in amongst the flowers to finish it off.

Now even our door can support our team…the one ick-factor is that our front door is red.  Meh.
Anyway.

“What time is it?”
GAME TIME!

  1. Hi Amy,

    I just love your wreaths! I am so into Edgar Allen Poe this time of year. I’m visiting from Feathered Nest Friday and hope you will drop by for a visit.
