Personalizing a Room with South Shore Furniture

Personalizing a Room with South Shore Furniture

As you know, I (Erin), have a fourth child (a little girl!) coming in September, and with space at a premium, we’ve decided to create a “brothers room” and combine the three boys. The boys are getting loft beds, and I wanted to create a special space below the loft beds to hang out, read, and do whatever little boys do during their quiet times.

The boys are into knights and dragons (if you didn’t notice by their birthday party!), and when South Shore Furniture sent me their Karma Night Stand with Ottograff Decals and Soldiers Ottograff Wall Decals, I knew they’d be perfect for our boys’ space! South Shore Furniture manufactures affordable furniture for the North American market and they share their passion and tips with the consumers so they can create the décor that suits their way of life, like a busy brothers room!

First up was the nightstand! I was pleased with how carefully it was packaged, and that all I needed to assemble the furniture was screwdriver and a hammer.

The night stand is white, but it comes with an awesome sticker that has a unique design created just for the Ottograff line. The sticker itself is printed on white vinyl, so not only is it great quality, it also won’t damage the furniture. The stickers are designed for a specific piece of furniture in the Ottograff line (you can’t just by the stickers and put them on any piece), and so for the Karma Night Stand, I received a shield sticker that was the perfect size for the front of the furniture.

We (husband and Prince C helped this pregnant momma!) quickly got to work assembling the night stand, and if you’ve ever done this type of furniture assembly before, it was a breeze! I know it sounds counter intuitive, but take the handles OFF when you’re assembling the night stand, BEFORE you apply the vinyl sticker.

It was time to apply the vinyl sticker! I had set aside the decals and had placed some books on them to flatten them out, because they had come to the house sealed safely in cardboard tubing. I removed the assembled drawers, and, starting with the lower drawer, I installed the first vinyl sticker (they give you a picture to help!). The stickers are easy to apply and remove, so if you make a little mistake, you can lift and fix the decal. They were so easy to install! Once both of my stickers were in place, I put the handles back on the drawers (not too tight!).

Tada! The shield sticker adds a fun punch of color to the night stand, but what I like about the sticker is that since’s it’s removable, I can remove it from the night stand when the boys are older and ready to have a more mature look and go back to the neutral white furniture. This gives us more years to use this furniture with the kids (always a win!).

Once we put the night stand in place, it was time to add some fun soldiers to stand guard! The Soldiers Ottograff Wall Decals were made of the same material as the shield sticker, and they were super easy to apply to a clean wall. The boys helped pick where they wanted the soldiers to go, and it turned out super cute!

There are so many more designs than just these two stickers. SouthShoreFurniture.com sells 3 categories of stickers, for baby, for kids, and even headboard stickers for teenagers or adults! They also have a large variety of furniture on the website, so there’s a lot to look at. Can you think of a space in your home that’s calling for a little whimsy?
