Super-Easy DIY Gourmet Pretzels

Chocolate covered pretzels are my husband’s absolute favorite sweet treat. However, they can be incredibly expensive to buy (some places charge $30 for 12 pretzels). I decided to try making my own DIY Gourmet Pretzels and was able to make over 30 of them for just $8. Plus, I could customize them with dark chocolate and peanut butter chips so they’re my hubby’s very favorite kind. These gourmet pretzels are super-simple to make and you can use whatever toppings you like…sprinkles, chocolate chips, mini candies, chopped nuts, or anything else your heart desires. They make a delicious snack and a really fabulous holiday gift idea! Here’s how to make your own.

You’ll need:

1 package chocolate candy melts (we prefer dark chocolate, but milk chocolate or white chocolate works too)

Utz Specials Original Sourdough Pretzels

Reese’s Peanut Butter Baking Chips (and/or any other toppings you like)

large shallow bowl

aluminum foil or wax paper

chopstick or butter knife

Making your gourmet pretzels:

Place the candy melts in a shallow bowl and melt according to the instructions on the package. Usually, this means setting your microwave to Lo or 50% power and heating them for 30 seconds, stirring, then heating for 30 second increments at half power until they’re completely melted.

Dip your pretzels into the bowl and coat them with the melted chocolate. I place them face down first, then use a chopstick to flip them over and coat the other side.

Place the coated pretzels on wax paper or aluminum foil, then sprinkle with peanut butter chips or other toppings, like sprinkles, chocolate chips, crushed candy cane, or mini M&Ms.

As soon as the chocolate hardens, your treats are ready to eat!
