A Block at a Time Sew Along Challenge with Andover Fabrics

Friends, I’m so excited to invite you to participate in something really fun with me. The folks at Andover Fabrics are hosting a special (and FREE) challenge that will allow you to create a beautiful 59” x 69” quilt, Patchwork Palooza, over the course of 22 weeks.

How Does A Block at a Time Work?

This challenge is a lot like a BOM (Block of the Month) project, but the patterns are released weekly rather than monthly, which means we can complete our quilt by December 4. Each week, starting July 10, the FREE pattern for a new block will be posted in the Andover Facebook Group. To sew along with us, just grab the materials listed below and create your blocks one at a time. If you fall behind, no worries, the patterns will remain available for whenever you’re ready. At the end of the challenge in December, there will be instructions for sewing the blocks together, and finishing your quilt with backing and binding.

Materials

* A 23-piece fat quarter bundle for the sampler blocks (I’ll be using Bloom & Sew)
* Two additional colors for the chain blocks and binding (3/8 yard of each)
* Your choice of background (3 yards)
* Your choice of binding (1/2 yard)
* Your choice of backing (4 1/2 yards)

You can use any fabric collection you like to complete your blocks. The sample pattern is shown using Andover’s Century Solids, while I’ll be sewing with one of the collections I designed, Bloom and Sew. As we create each block, the Facebook Group (where you’ll find the free patterns) is a great place to share progress photos, ask questions, and interact with folks across the country who are making the same project. Here’s an image you can save to share the news in the group and on social media that you’re participating!

Be sure to join the A Block at a Time with Andover Facebook group so you don’t miss any announcements and to grab the first pattern when we kick off the event on July 10! I hope to see you there, and can’t wait to sew along as we create Patchwork Palooza. Are you in?
