Friends, I don’t know about you, but the Artsy Family loves us a good holiday! We like to be festive all year round, which means we often have decorative holiday touches around the house. So, when I got some adorable patriotic washi tape last week, I immediately wanted to use it to create some 4th of July coasters!
These couldn’t have been easier {or cheaper} to make. Here’s how you can make your own version:
Materials:
– white square tiles {these cost less than 10 cents a piece at your local home improvement store}
– washi tape
– felt
– scissors
– glue
To create the design, I just attached my tape to the back edge of the coaster, pulled it across the front, and secured the other side on the back. I had fun creating four different patterns and alternating the tapes in various ways.
Of course, if you happen to be Canadian or another of my international friends, I’m guessing these particular designs don’t really appeal to you. You, of course, can use any colors and patterns of washi tape to customize these however you like!
The finishing step is to cut a felt square and glue it onto the back of each coaster so the rough backs of the tiles won’t scratch your tables.
What do you think? Which is your favorite design?
These are seriously so quick and easy to make; we have several sets we rotate through during the fall, winter, and spring. They’re also a nice gift idea for a neighbor, friend, hostess, or anyone else who likes a little handmade decór in their home.
I like having them around to get me in a patriotic mood…of course, it makes me anxious to have our annual 4th of July family picnic and eat crabs! Here in Maryland, we like our crabs steamed and covered in LOTS of Old Bay…then we hit them with hammers, pick the meat out, and yummmm! How do you celebrate the 4th?

My favorite is the stars and anchors. I really wanted to buy some of that anchor to make some nautical themed stuff but my craft budget wouldn’t let me.

These are super cute. You don’t put any Mod Podge on them or anything and they hold up ok?
