Hello everyone! Kirsten from One Tough Mother here with you today to share a simple yet stylish bathroom upgrade that you can do on a budget! I know we’ve all seen those gorgeous bathrooms with the built-in storage cabinet between two framed mirrors, custom countertops, and beautiful sinks. Well, my husband and I purchased our home last summer and, frankly, don’t have the budget to invest that kind of money in our bathroom right now. (Maybe one day!) I created our own “custom” storage very simply while staying on a budget. Let me show you how you can to!
Our bathroom was pretty basic – a few items on the counter, most things under the sink. The usual stuff – toiletries, make-up, etc. I have been wanting to reorganize for a while now and just couldn’t figure out what I wanted, then it hit me. Countertop storage!
Now, I don’t think my bathroom was as bad as some I’ve seen. I don’t hang onto things for too long, so it wasn’t terribly “junky”, just enough of a mess to get on my nerves. I headed to Target with an idea in my head.
For under $20, I found this ClosetMaid shelf unit and knew it was exactly what I needed.
A few screws and it was up! Now it’s time to fill it.
My make-up was probably the messiest part of my bathroom stuff, so I found a couple of cute containers and spread things out a bit.
The toiletries under my sink are sometimes are to get to easily, and I end up knocking one thing over to get to another. I found a gorgeous fabric bin at Michael’s (on sale!) and snatched it up for all of those things.
The top shelf is perfect to house extra hand towels and washcloths, as well as my mason jars with cotton balls and cotton swabs.
The final touch was a simple chrome Command Hook on the right side to hang a hand towel for my husband.
And that’s it! It’s not a built-in, but it serves the same purpose, it’s beautifully arranged with pretty bins, and I love it!
When you get inspired, think outside the box. You don’t always have to spend a fortune to organize beautifully. Happy organizing!
