Button Snowman Ornament

Hey, friends!  I know all of us are always looking for quick, inexpensive, and easy projects to do especially around the holidays, so today I’m sharing a simple but adorable DIY ornament you can make in fifteen minutes or less!  This is actually the ornament I made to send to my Ornament Exchange Partner, Amy R.  On the sign-up form, she told me she liked anything that was pink, cute, or sparkly, so I decided to make something that was all three!

BUTTON SNOWMAN ORNAMENT

This project literally cost me nothing to make, because I already had all these supplies on hand in my stash…and I bet you do too!

Materials:
– assorted buttons, three large and two small {mine were gifted to me by Laura Kelly from Buttons Galore and More!}
– ribbon
– twine
– tiny google eyes
– felt for nose and hat
– scissors
– hot glue gun and glue sticks…mine are AdTech {or craft glue works too}
– glitter glue

Step 1: Choose 3 large buttons and glue them onto a piece of ribbon.  I used pink because it was my ornament exchange partner’s favorite color, but you can use any color combo you like!  I chose a slightly smaller button for the head.

Step 2: Form a loop with the remaining ribbon above the top button and glue the end down to the back of the button.  This will be your ornament hanger.

Step 3: Cut a piece of jute/twine for the arms and glue it to the back of the middle button.  I bent mine in the middle so that the ends would point upward.

Step 4: Glue a small button on top of each “body” button.

Step 5: Cut a triangle from orange felt.  Glue google eyes and felt nose onto top button.

Step 6: Cut a hat shape from felt and glue to the top button.

Step 7: Apply glitter glue or decoupage formula to the entire snowman to make it sparkle!

I’m loving this little snowman; in fact, it’s pretty hard to mail it off to my partner instead of keeping it for my own tree!  Looks like I’ll just have to make a few more!  I think they’d be adorable tied onto packages too, don’t you?  I’m sharing this today not only as part of my own Honestly Holiday series, I’m also sharing it as part of the Craft Lightning Holiday Edition.  Stop by there {click on the button!} to get lots of other ideas for quick holiday crafts you can make in fifteen minutes or less!  Enjoy!

And if you like this guy, be sure to stop by and see how Little Crafter and I used some more of Laura’s buttons to make this fun DIY Button Ornament!
