Favorite Quote Christmas Ornament

Favorite Quote Christmas Ornament

The One Artsy Mama Ornament Exchange is in full swing as many of our readers are now receiving ornaments from their partners! (PS. We would love to see the ones that you got, so shoot us an email or Facebook message!) I had the wonderful chance to send an ornament as well, and I (Erin) decided to focus on my partner’s daughter and love for all things Disney (since I’m a Disney fan too!). I picked a favorite quote from the live action “Cinderella” and turned it into an ornament fit for any four year old princess. You could easily adapt this ornament for any quote you might like!

Materials:

-Wooden Shape

-Scrapbook Paper

-Carbon Paper

-Painter’s Tape

-Good Writing Utensil

-Mod Podge

-Hand Drill

-Ribbon

-Any Other Decorations (like glitter or stickers, etc.)

Step 1: Cut out a shape from scrapbook paper to match your wood shape. Use Mod Podge to attach the paper. Do this to the front and back of the ornament. Don’t mod podge over the front of the paper yet, because you’ll need to write on it!

Step 2: (Optional) If your ornament didn’t come with a pre-drilled hole, make your own using a crafting hand drill!

Step 3: Lettering. Ok, so there are tons of ways to letter things, including hand lettering, stenciling, etc. I went with a different technique this time, to give you another option. Design and print out your words. Grab your carbon paper and sandwich it (face down) between your ornament and the words, using painters tape to hold it in place. Trace over the letters with a pen or pencil and remove the paper!

Step 4: Use a good marker or pen to trace back over the letters.

Step 5: Seal with Mod Podge. Feel free to sprinkle a little glitter on if the occasion calls for it. In this  case, it definitely did.

Step 6: Add decorations and a ribbon! The live action “Cinderella” carries a butterfly theme throughout, so I wanted to add a couple knowing it would make any little (or big) girl smile. You can always add whatever thematic decorations you’d like to your quote, or just leave it as is.

I can’t wait to hear if my partner and her daughter enjoyed this beautiful little ornament! How about you? Do you have a favorite quote you’d like to make into a keepsake ornament, or maybe you have a special saying in your family that you’d like to remember. The possibilities are endless!
