Fall Apple Place Cards

As we head into Fall, it’s the perfect time to add little touches of the season to your home decor. Since apples are in season right now, they make a great addition to your harvest table, both on your plate and beside it! Here’s how to create some very simple, elegant Fall Apple Place Cards.

You’ll need

an apple per person

adhesive labels (mine are chalkboard style labels)

paint pen, extra-fine tip

assorted leaves, dried flowers, and berries (faux or real)

hot glue gun and glue

Step 1: Write the name on the adhesive label, then stick it to the front of the apple.

I used the Faux Calligraphy technique, which is a super-simple way to get gorgeous hand lettering. You can learn about it in this blog post or this video. Basically, you write your word in cursive, locate all the places where your pen was moving downward, then make those areas thicker than the rest. I chose to use gold paint pen, but you can also use white for a chalkboard effect, or use a colored pen on white labels for a completely different look.

Step 2: Glue a few leaves around the stem.

I used faux leaves, but you can use real ones instead if you prefer.

Step 3: Add some colorful dried flowers or other floral accents.

I had some of these orange stems left from a previous fall project, and they were perfect for the job. I glued a few of them in with the leaves.

Step 4: Add berries.

The ones in this photo are real, taken from my backyard. However, since I wasn’t sure what type they are and if they would be dangerous to my curious cat, I ended up replacing them later with some faux berries I found at Hobby Lobby.

That’s all there is to it! Now you have an elegant, seasonal way to seat guests around your table…even if it’s just your immediate family at the moment. Here’s another variation on the same idea: for an even simpler version, just add a handwritten label, then wrap a piece of twine around the top of the apple several times.

Tie it in a knot, trim the ends, and your project is ready to display.

What do you think? Why not add a few of these to your fall table decor? If you try this project, I’d love to see what you create! Be sure to share your photos with us in the Amy Latta & Friends Facebook Group so we can all be inspired.
