Christmas Card Display & a $250 Visa Gift Card Giveaway!
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gorilla Glue for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Friends, you know how much I love sending and receiving Christmas cards, so it should come as no surprise that I also like to put them on display! I enjoy looking at the photos of family and friends and I think it’s much more fun to make them a part of my holiday decor than to just pile them up somewhere. This year, I created a new way to hang up the cards I receive, and you won’t believe how easy it is to make your own. All you need are a few simple supplies and about ten minutes and you can create a card display too, just in time for Christmas!
You’ll need:
Wide Ribbon
Wooden Dowel
String or Twine
Scissors
Paint and paintbrush {optional}
Step 1: Paint your dowel.
This part is totally optional. If you’d rather go with the natural wooden look, that’s even easier! You could even use a small branch or a piece of driftwood if it’s a better match for your decor.
Step 2: Wrap your ribbon around the dowel and secure with Gorilla Spray Adhesive.
I left about 2″ of the ribbon to attach to the back side so I’d have a nice, secure bond. Then, I just sprayed the adhesive on the back of the ribbon and pressed it together. I didn’t spray any adhesive on the dowel, just the ribbon itself.
This was my first time trying Gorilla Spray Adhesive, and I confess I’m hooked! It’s heavy duty, multi-purpose and easy to use. While repositionable for up to 10 minutes, Gorilla Spray adhesive forms a clear, permanent bond that is photo safe and good for both indoor and outdoor projects. Its wide pad nozzle and controlled fine mist provide an even application and it meets the new VOC standard. You can use Gorilla Spray Adhesive on wood, metal, fabric, foam, some plastic, paper, glass, leather, and more! {It’s not recommended for vinyl, polypropylene, polyethylene, or auto headliners.}
Repeat step 2 with two more pieces of ribbon so that you have three streamers coming off of your dowel. You can make these pieces as long or short as you like, depending on where you plan to hang your card display.
Step 3: Tie a piece of twine, jute, or ribbon to each end of the dowel as a hanger.
That’s literally all there is to it! See? It’s inexpensive, quick, and oh-so-easy. You don’t need any crafting skills at all to be able to create this for your home. I added a sprig of holly to mine to make it extra-festive, but you could also use a pine branch, a bow, or no extra decoration at all.
The only thing left to do is hang your display and attach your cards! I used some tiny wooden clothespins to secure mine.
I absolutely love how festive and fun this looks in my home. Now, the only thing left to do is convince Flynn the kitty that it’s not his new toy! What about you? Is this something you want to create for your own holiday cards?
