Farmhouse-Style Bunny Pillow

Farmhouse-Style Bunny Pillow

Special thanks to Fairfield World for sponsoring today’s post. All opinions are 100% my own.

Who’s ready to start decorating for Spring? I can’t wait for warmer weather, and I’m excited to bring a little bit of the season into my home decor with easy projects like this DIY Farmhouse-Style Bunny Pillow! It’s quick to make and looks absolutely adorable on a chair, couch, or even your bed. Here’s how to create your own.

You’ll need:

1/2 yard cotton fabric

Bunny pattern

Scissors

Thread

Straight pins

Fairfield World Poly-Fil®

Ribbon

Large pom-pom

Hot glue gun and glue

Making Your Bunny Pillow

Step 1: Download and print the bunny pattern.

Before you print, size it to whatever dimensions you want your pillow to be. I wanted a large pillow, so I enlarged my pattern to the point where it took up several pieces of paper that I taped together. You can use this pattern to create plush bunnies of all sizes, from tiny to large. If you prefer, you can also sketch your own bunny shape instead.

Bunny Pattern

Step 2: Cut two bunny shapes from your fabric.

I suggest folding your fabric in half, right sides out, and pinning the pattern on top. Cut around the pattern, and you’ll have two bunny shapes that are exactly the same.

Step 3: Sew the shapes together, leaving an opening in the bottom.

You’ll want to start by pinning the two shapes together with the right sides out. Sew around the edges with a 1/4″ seam. Leave enough of an opening that you can easily stuff the pillow with Poly-Fil®.

Step 4: Fill the bunny’s body with Poly-Fil®.

You may want to use an unsharpened pencil or dowel rod to help fill the ears.

Step 5: Sew the bottom opening closed.

I did all of the sewing with a sewing machine, but you could also hand-stitch if you prefer.

Step 6: Add a bow and a tail.

First, I tied a bow from some wide white ribbon and hot glued it to the side of the neck. Then, I added a large pompom tail, also with hot glue. You can find pompoms of all sizes at the craft store, or you can also use a large puffy keychain accessory like I did.

That’s all there is to it! These bunnies are so simple to make and they bring such a fun, festive touch to your spring decor. You can customize them by choosing different colors and patterns of fabric to coordinate with your home, as well as different colored ribbon and tails.

Chances are, you won’t want to stop with just one! Take a look at how cute a smaller version turns out too. You can make a whole bunny family! The smaller bunnies look adorable sitting on a shelf or even in an Easter basket. Next week, I will be sharing how I used one to create a colorful wreath for the front door.
