Who’s ready to start crafting and decorating for spring? If you have some old books lying around, I’ve got a fun little project for you: Farmhouse Style Book Page Carrots! It takes less than 10 minutes to make one of these and you probably already have most, if not all, of the supplies on hand. Take a look.
You’ll need:
book page (I like to purchase paperback books at Goodwill so I always have some on hand for craft projects)
Poly Pellets or other filler
jute/twine/ribbon
scissors
adhesive (I used Tombow Power Mini Glue Tape)
faux greenery
Step 1: Roll the book page into a cone.
Use adhesive to secure the edge of the paper. I like using the Power Mini Glue Tape or other Tombow MONO adhesive tape because it works instantly and it’s not wet and messy like glue.
Step 2: Fill the cone with Poly Pellets.
Make sure to leave space at the top to twist and close off the carrot shape.
Step 3: Add faux greenery and twist shut.
Feel free to trim the extra paper so that the greenery is visible.
Step 4: Tie shut with jute/twine/ribbon.
Jute will give you a very natural look, while orange ribbon will add a pop of traditional color. Black and white plaid ribbon gives a farmhouse feel, and other colors can tie in to your existing home decor.
This project is cute on its own, but I like making several and stacking them, like I did on my three-tiered tray! I love that they’re festive and fun, but still work with my overall decor style. Of course, you could also use other types of paper too, including patterned scrapbook paper or orange cardstock if you want something that looks a little more traditional. What do you think?
If you try this project, I’d love to see how yours turn out! Make sure to join the Amy Latta & Friends Facebook Group so you can share your project photos and we can all inspire each other. See you there!
Also, make sure to check out these other spring projects before you go!
