I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get caught up in trying to find the perfect Mother’s Day gift. I stress out because no one thing seems like enough to show my mom how much I love and appreciate her. So, why not forget trying to get that one perfect present, and get several smaller ones instead? Today, I want to walk you through creating a meaningful Mother’s Day Gift Basket for the moms in your life using a quick little four line poem as a guide. Whether it’s for your mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, or a friend, this will help you put together something she’ll love. Take a look!
Something to Eat
Moms are often the ones responsible for feeding everyone else in the house, and I can tell you from experience, it gets exhausting. Now, it’s your turn to take care of her by treating her to a favorite snack. Whether it’s salty or sweet, grab Mom’s favorite indulgence (or two). You can also use this category for a beverage – either physically adding a bottle of something she loves, or in the form of a gift card to Starbucks (hint, hint, family!)
Something to Wear
This category can take lots of different forms. One option is to buy a pretty shade of nail polish or a new lip gloss if you know what she likes. Another idea is jewelry: a new pair of earrings, a bracelet, or a locket containing the photos of her loved ones. This doesn’t have to break the bank (although if you want to invest in fine jewelry, by all means, go for it). You can find affordable options at stores like Target or Kohls, or you can even craft something yourself, making beaded jewelry, metal stamped jewelry, clay jewelry, and more. A Gift Just for Mom
Now, it’s time to get sentimental. This gift should be something personal and meaningful that’s just for her. A framed photo is always a great gift, or an item with a phrase that means something to you. Find a mug, a journal, or a piece of home decor with a favorite saying…or if you can’t find one, make one! (Check out this tutorial). We have a habit in our family of saying, “love you,” “love you more,” so I hand lettered this free printable; feel free to grab it and use it for someone special. Or, simply write a personal letter from the heart; I guarantee she’ll cherish it.
A Gift for Self-Care
One of the things a mom gets the least of is “me-time”. Her time and energy are spent taking care of everyone else, and at the end of the day, there’s not much left over. That’s why we’re going to give her something indulgent that’s all about caring for herself. Beauty and body care items like lotion, bubble bath, or a facial mask fit this category. Another idea is a journal she can use to record her thoughts and feelings. I highly recommend a copy of Practice Makes Progress: My Creative Journal; it will help her get in touch with her creative side while taking time just for herself.
Once you’ve gathered together the items you want to gift, find a cute basket – most moms are suckers for those – and arrange the gifts inside. Then, feel free to grab this printable tag/card to add to it. Just click the link, save the image, then print it out (it’s sized as a 4×6).
