Fabric Hoop Ornaments
’Tis the season to deck the halls! These Fabric Hoop Ornaments are quick, easy, and fun to make, and you can personalize them for anyone on your list. They also look adorable tied onto packages as gift tags.

How to Make Fabric Hoop Ornaments
These fabric hoop ornaments only take five minutes to create, and they’re totally personalized using your favorite fabrics and words/names. Even young crafters can join in the fun; just substitute craft glue for the hot glue or make sure to supervise their little fingers. Ready to get started? Gather the materials below, and let’s get crafty!

Materials
- 3” embroidery hoops
- 1” wide burlap ribbon
- 5” fabric squares
- wooden letter tiles
- ribbon and/or twine
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Instructions
Separate the hoop place a 5” fabric square inside, along with a piece of burlap ribbon.
Tighten the screw to secure the fabric and ribbon in place.

Trim the excess fabric and ribbon.
Glue wooden letter tiles on top of the burlap.
You can fit up to four letters inside the hoop. Here are some festive word ideas:
joy, hope, love, noel, wish, xmas, gift, give, pray, holy, mom, dad, any 3 or 4 letter name
For longer names, try using nicknames or initials. You can also glue the letters in a curve instead of a straight line to fit more in the hoop.

Tie a ribbon bow and glue it to the top of the hoop.
I used 3/4” wide ribbon for the bow, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand.

Add a hanger.
I cut a piece of twine and tied it to the screw at the top of the hoop.
Now your ornament is ready to display on the tree or on a package.

The most fun thing about this project is that every ornament can be totally unique. You can choose fabrics that the recipient will enjoy, or prints and colors that match your holiday decor.

And, of course, adding names makes these ornaments extra-special.

Crafting Tips
- This project is a great way to use up your fabric scraps! It also works perfectly with pre-cut 5” squares.
- You can substitute other 1” ribbon for the burlap ribbon if you prefer a less rustic look.
- Try using a larger hoop and making a wall hanging using the same basic steps.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you only want a few, try your local craft store. Our Michaels store had several in stock. If you want to make them for lots of friends and family, I recommend Amazon for buying in larger quantities.
No, but you could! I ordered a package of 300 letter tiles from Amazon (your local craft store probably has them, too). Or, you can repurpose an old Scrabble game sourced from a thrift store/yard sale.
