Eco-Friendly Spring Gift Idea
Share an eco-friendly spring gift that keeps on giving all season long! These peat pots filled with candies and seed packets allow the recipient to enjoy a sweet treat, then plant vegetables or flowers that will grow throughout the coming months.

How to Make Eco-Friendly Spring Gifts
Since peat pots are biodegradable, they are perfect for starting seeds, then planting directly into the ground. Start with these inexpensive pots, and fill them with the materials listed below for an easy, sweet spring gift.
Materials
- 3” peat pots (many kits come with plant markers)
- paper shred
- individually wrapped candies
- seed packets
Instructions
Fill the pot with paper shred, then add candies and a seed packet. Have fun combining different candies and seeds to create different themed pots. Here’s an idea for a carrot theme, using carrot shaped chocolates and a carrot seed pack.

Here’s another idea, using a tiny bunny and some eggs, combined with assorted colors of daisies. My pots came with these teal plant markers, which I used to display the recipient’s name, written in permanent marker.

If your pots don’t come with plant markers, you can purchase them separately, or create your own gift tags using card stock.

These sweet little gifts are eco-friendly, inexpensive, and fun to put together for crafters of all ages. They’re perfect for sharing with teachers, classmates, neighbors, friends, and anyone else you want to give a bit of spring cheer!

Crafting Tips
- Once your gift is assembled, place it in a clear cellophane bag to hold the contents together.
- Personalize your gift by using your friend’s favorite colors or type of flowers.
- For an even more eco-friendly project, use a paper shredder to create your own paper shred instead of purchasing it.
