In honor of Anti-Bullying month coming up in October, we’ve been busy here in our house making some reminders that kindness is always the best choice! (If you missed the previous projects, be sure to check out the “bee kind” pencil pouch and Smart Label stickers too!) Today, I want to share how simple it was to create this adorable shirt using the Cricut Joy and Smart Iron-On vinyl. Take a look…
You’ll need:
Step 1: Choose your image in Design Space.
I picked an image from the Design Library called “Bee Kind With Bee #MF0268C9.” Then, I sized it to fit my shirt. Although the Smart Iron-On roll is only 5.5″ wide, can cut designs up to 24″ long!
Step 2: Send the design to your Cricut machine.
Make sure that “Mirror On” is selected since you are working with Iron-On. Follow the prompts to load the Iron-On into the machine with the shiny side down, then begin the cut. I used the color Bright Teal, because I love how it pops on my dark grey shirt, but you can choose any color you like.
Step 3: Weed your vinyl.
Peel away any of the Iron-On vinyl that is not part of your design, including the centers of letters like “B” and “D.”
Step 4: Preheat the EasyPress 2 and your shirt.
Use the Cricut Heat Guide to find the right temperature and length of time for the fabric and Iron-On material you are using. Mine was 315 degrees for 30 seconds. Place the shirt on top of an EasyPress Mat or a folded towel and apply heat to the area where your design will go. This removes any moisture that may be in the fabric.
Step 5: Place your design on the shirt and apply heat.
Position your design where you want it to go. Then, place the EasyPress 2 on top, begin the timer, and apply gentle pressure until the time is up.
Let it cool for a moment, then peel the adhesive backing away to reveal the design, now adhered to your fabric! Wait 24 hours after application for washing it, then turn the garment inside out and it will be machine washable.
That’s all there is to it! Your t-shirt is ready to wear as a great reminder for you and for others around you to choose kindness.
As with any Cricut project, you can customize this by using another design from the image library, or uploading/creating a design that’s totally unique. Using different colors of Smart Iron-On as well as different colors and types of shirts will also give you a variety of finished products.
I absolutely love the way my t-shirt turned out, and I’m not waiting until October to wear it. Kindness is important every day, so there’s no wrong time for a reminder! What do you think? What would your custom t-shirt say?
If you like this project, don’t forget to save it to Pinterest and/or share with a friend!
