How to Make a Summer Pineapple Craft

This project is fun for crafters of all ages! It doesn’t require any sewing, just stuffing and some gluing. Older kids can do the entire project on their own, while younger crafters will need some supervision with the glue.

Materials

  • yellow sock
  • Poly-Pellets
  • Poly-Fil
  • scissors
  • hair tie or rubber band
  • green and black felt
  • craft eyes (or google eyes)
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • optional: silk flower, blush

Instructions

Cut off the sock just below the heel to form a tube.

Fill the tube, first about halfway full with Poly-Pellets, then the rest of the way with Poly-Fil.

Use a hair tie or rubber band at the top to secure.

Cut a zig-zag pattern from a piece of green felt

Wrap the felt strip around the top of the pineapple, overlapping it a few times. Use hot glue to attach it in place.

Glue on eyes and a smile to give your pineapple some personality. I used flat back craft eyes, but you could also use google eyes or felt.

Add any other accents you like, such as blush and/or a tropical silk flower. Then, your pineapple is ready to display and enjoy!

Crafting Tips

  • Feel free to use any size and type of yellow sock you can find! Mine was left over from our spring chick project, but you can use a non-fuzzy sock instead, or one that’s brighter in color.
  • I used craft eyes and a felt smile, but you could also use google eyes or buttons as well as yarn or embroidery thread to create the face. Another fun idea is to use felt and pipe cleaners to give your pineapple sunglasses!
  • Make sure that if kids are doing this craft, you supervise them while they’re using hot glue!
