Boho Feather Pendant

Friends, I am super-excited about what I get to share with you over the next few days! We’re going to have a little jewelry mini-series, doesn’t that sound like fun? It all started when I heard about a new box subscription called Blueberry Cove Beads. You’re probably familiar with the idea of a subscription box; what makes this one different is that instead of containing clothing or beauty products, it’s full of beads and other jewelry making supplies! And what’s even more fun is that the supplies are chosen based on a specific theme or style. I was excited to give it a try, and when I opened the June box, I absolutely loved what was inside! I received my box free of charge, but all opinions are mine!

The theme for the month was “Boho” and I got a fabulous assortment of beads in all different shapes and sizes, plus charms and more! As soon as I saw the materials, I immediately began combining some of them in my mind. I couldn’t wait to start creating, so I pulled out my wire, findings, and tools, and got to work! I’ve made several projects using these base components and that’s what I’m going to be sharing with you over the next few days! First up, this simple DIY Boho Feather Pendant!

Boho Feather Necklace

The first thing I really noticed in the box was the feather charms…I’ve been seeing feather jewelry online a lot lately and wanting some of my own, so I was thrilled to find these. Here’s what I used.

From the box:
– feather charm
– small teal bead

From my stash:
– antique gold jump rings
– antique gold chain
– head pin
– lobster clasp
– pliers and wire cutters

Step 1: Attach two jump rings to the charm, then thread a piece of chain through the top ring. You can make the chain as long or as short as you like. Right now, the boho style is all about long pendants, so I liked the idea of making it “opera length.” {For more info about chain lengths, you can check out this post all about the different options!}

Step 2: Add a jump ring and clasp to the ends of your chain. I like to use a simple lobster clasp, but any type works!

Step 3: Place your bead on a head pin and form a wire wrapped loop. If you don’t know how in the world to do that, never fear…I have step by step photo instructions here.

Step 4: Attach your bead to the top jump ring.

That’s all there is to it! Four simple steps and you’ve got a beautifully boho feather pendant! This would pair wonderfully with a maxi skirt and a simple top, don’t you agree?
