How to Make Felt Monogram Ornaments

These ornaments are a great way to use up scrap felt, and they each take less than 15 minutes to create. Just gather the basic craft supplies listed below, and let’s get started!

  • felt
  • scissors
  • perle cotton/embroidery floss and needle
  • Poly-Fil
  • twine

Instructions

  1. Cut two 3″ felt circles for each ornament. (I traced a small measuring cup.)
  2. Cut out a monogram letter from contrasting felt. (I freehanded mine, but you can also print out typed letters and trace them as a template, or use alphabet stencils.)
  3. Use perle cotton or embroidery floss to hand stitch the letter to the center of one felt circle.
  4. Place the two circles together and stitch around the outside edges from the bottom to the top center.
  5. Cut a piece of twine and tie a knot in the ends. Place it in between the two circles in the top center.
  6. Continue stitching around the edges of the circles, securing the hanger in place. Leave an opening for stuffing.
  7. Add a small amount of Poly-Fil inside the circles, then finish stitching around the edges.
  8. Add a ribbon bow and a jingle bell to the hanger with hot glue (optional).

  • Feel free to make your ornaments sparkle by lightly brushing the felt with glue, then sprinkling loose glitter on top.
  • Try using different size circles for larger or smaller ornaments.
