Thanks to Blueberry Cove Beads for providing the supplies for this post. All opinions are my own.
Hey there, jewelry lovers! Last month, I shared with you about a fun new subscription service I’ve been trying out, Blueberry Cove Beads. Each month, subscribers receive a themed box full of beads, charms, and other accessories you can use in any way you like to create your own one-of-a-kind jewelry projects! The first theme was Boho, and I absolutely loved it. In no time, I created five different pieces using things from my box. This month proved to be a bit more of a challenge. First of all, the box came right before I left for Haven Conference. Then, we had our family vacation, where I got an ear infection and my computer was hacked. After I got home, it was Little Crafter’s birthday, my mom’s birthday, and Erin’s baby shower! Whew! Now that things are finally settling down, I pulled out my box again to see what I could create. This month’s theme was Oriental, and here is a look at what was inside:
There was definitely a huge variety and lots of pretty things, but honestly I struggled at first because my personal style is about as far from Oriental as it gets. My home decor is best described as Farmhouse French Style with a touch of Coastal, and my clothing these days is either fit and flare dresses or graphic tees. I’m pretty sure the only Oriental thing in my home is a pair of chopsticks and some frozen P.F. Chang’s rice.
I enjoyed the challenge of creating something with materials I wouldn’t normally buy, though, because it stretches my creativity…and otherwise all my jewelry would look the same! Here is the bracelet I put together.
This particular bracelet requires no special skills or materials; anyone can do it!
Materials:
– 6mm Round Black Glass Beads {24}
– 6mm Decorative Gold Spacers {8}
– Clear Stringing Elastic
– Scissors
All you have to do is string your beads onto the elastic in any pattern you like. I chose to do three black beads followed by a gold spacer, and repeated that pattern eight times. Then, tie the elastic tightly and trim your ends. If you like, you can add a dab of super glue to the knot to make sure it doesn’t come undone.
I’m loving my new bracelet; it’s elegant and goes with just about any outfit! I will be sure to share whatever pieces I make using the other supplies from my box too.
