Countdown to Christmas Ornament: One Royal Holiday
One Royal Holiday, starring Laura Osnes and Aaron Tveit, is the tale of a woman who offers shelter to a man and his mother who are stranded in a blizzard. Unbeknownst to her, they are the Royal Family of Galwick. An extra bonus of this movie is that you get to hear the incredible vocal talents of Laura and Aaron (who are both Broadway stars) as they sing “Winter Wonderland!” (See previews and learn more about the film here!)
The ornament I created to go along with One Royal Christmas is represents a combination of two things about the movie; snow and royalty! Here’s how I made it and you can too.
Snowballs & Crown Ornament
You’ll need:
clear glass (or plastic) ornament
electronic cutting machine and silver vinyl OR crown sticker
Step 1: Fill your ornament with white pom poms.
These little “snowballs” represent the snowstorm that gets the prince and queen stranded with our heroine. You could also use white glitter or anything else that looks like snow.
Step 2: (optional) Cut a crown from permanent vinyl.
I have a Cricut Joy, so I used Cricut Smart Vinyl.
I chose a crown image I liked from the Design Space software, then loaded the vinyl into the Cricut Joy and let it work its cutting magic.
When it was finished cutting, all I had to do was peel off my cute little crown sticker! If you don’t have an electronic cutting machine, you can just buy crown stickers instead, or use scissors to cut out a crown shape from some cardstock and glue it on.
Step 3: Apply the crown to the front of your ornament.
That’s all there is to it! Add either a hook or a piece of string/ribbon as a hanger, and your Royal Holiday ornament is ready to display on the tree.
This ornament is so simple (and inexpensive) to create, and I think it’s a really fun representation of the movie. If you make your own, I’d love to see! Be sure to share your holiday project photos with us in the Amy Latta & Friends Facebook Group so we can all be inspired.
